sur0xParticipantvery cool dude, could you please post the mp4 file?
sur0xParticipantWow!!! Awesome work @lilbud, I’m gonna add to the the randomizer asap!
Thank you very much guys!!sur0xParticipantHi @rookervik I have added your splashs to the randomizer dude you are good, those splashs are amazing!!!
If you continue I have some suggestions:
Secret of Mana
Super Mario World
Ghouls ‘N Ghosts
Mother 3sur0xParticipantAwesome, I’ll start to upload videos and make a new option to install videos!
sur0xParticipantHi @herbfargus, yeah, I already had plans to do that, I did a diff between mine and taalas repo so I’ll add asap I was waiting the repo owner say something!
https://github.com/sur0x/retropiesplashscreen/issues/3
let me ask you something, can retropie play video in splashs Natively now? I think I saw some video in that repo
sur0xParticipantHey @robertybob @rookervik sorry its been 6 months till I found this topic lol!
I’m adding the splashs to the randomizer today!!
sur0xParticipantHi @retroman33 it is not easy to figure out this way, what is the difference between the paths? did you tried to put other movies inside the path that works? movies are with right chmod permissions?
sur0xParticipant@retroman33 try to take a shot of the error, not sure what could be, just make sure the method to run videos that are you are using uses sudo to access the files
sur0xParticipantwhat error?
Try to:
sudo rm -rf bmoface/
if you get some error just paste here
sur0xParticipantYou need to remove them from the /opt dir, not the place where Git downloads them.
Try to search at /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen
sur0xParticipantYes.
sur0xParticipantHi @bitbytepixelsprite, no run setup just once, so every reboot it will execute the script getting the list of all folders at the present time, so feel free to add or remove the splashscreens folders.
sur0xParticipantHi @bitbytepixelsprite no, simply remove or add the splashs in the same folder structure, script uses the same folder as the retropie and will get random folders everytime
sur0xParticipant@retroman33 Now it’s working for the latest retropie!!! please try update and test it.
sur0xParticipantHi @retroman33 , I’m formating my SD to test it right know hold a sec! And videos are not tested but should work!!!
sur0xParticipant@retroman33, which version of retropie are you using?
If you want to remove just edit the: /etc/splashscreen.list to your chosen image and remove the files,
also execute: update-rc.d splashscreen.sh remove
I’ll add the uninstall process asap
sur0xParticipantHi @yanfox , @tinyorange,
Glad that you guys liked it!!
Regarding the videos, the code should work if you maintain the folder structure like the images, since it will get everything after the folder, but I didnt tested since rpi2 is so fast that I feel unnecessary to put video intros!!
/videofolder/video.*
Also I cannot merge the retropie splashs into my repo, that’s why I choose to ‘merge’ using the same folder, so no matter what you put there or version that you have of retropie it will work anyways!
I’ll spare some time to add the new splashs here in the forum today!
sur0xParticipantHi @yanfox it currently uses the same folder that retropie uses for the splashscreens, so it will randomize with the repository custom splashs and original ones.
About the uninstall I’ll do asap, great idea!
sur0xParticipantHi,
where is the github url with other versions?
Also, can I include it to my splashscreen randomizer project?
https://github.com/sur0x/retropiesplashscreen/
Thanks
sur0xParticipant
Hey man, this is fantastic! Can I delete splash’s I don’t like and add my own? Or would I have to edit a splashscreen list file or something?
Hey!
Sure, you can delete and add without problem, clone the project and delete the folders that you don’t want it or add more folders, just preserve the folder hierarchy.
Then use the installer, you don’t need to edit anything elseIf you have more suitable images please send me over github or rodrigosiviero at gmail and I can include it on the github as well.
sur0xParticipantMy best guess is that he got the animation sprites and in video edit software made the mario “move” and jump, added sound fx later.
sur0xParticipantHey guys, back.
Updated the information, the randomizer is working perfect with 2.6 and 3.0beta2.
I added 3 more splashs that Ive got on the forum, check here:

sur0xParticipantHey guise, updated with latest submissions, checkout the gallery!
