What i found really interesting from author of this post is that I also found crt caligari and crt hyllian lq best crt shaders for pi.
Therefore i think they are a little demanding for the systems now, so i switched for scale2x shader. This is a shader i suggest, not heavy and add a little more resolution feeling to games, without blurry them. Give it a try

No advmame is very laggy.
You can use fba libretro which uses a very recent romset version 0.2.97.30 and runs above 3000 arcade games.
Performance are very good on pi2.

Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get upgrade -y

And update raspberry firmware

I did not see the error after last updates

No slowdown with a stock pi2
I use romcenter instead of crlmamepro for the dat fike download fba 0.2.97.30 under prevoius version for windows then open fba under misc option there is an export to dat file et voila

Ah ok i am using the 4th option with overscan enable seems fine.

This is a GREAT config file for fba!
I only changed a button and put false on video smooth!

Thank you floob for your video and your help. Mame4all cannot save states, so i will use FBA as you suggest.

I tried FBA LIBRETRO, and I can say runs absolutely wonderful with my full 0.2.97.30 romset, which I think it’s more recent than PIFBA romset.

Also CPS3 games like JoJo runs absolutely smooth.

Floob please help me!
I tried 3 different mame emulators:
1) the first mame, the default mame4all, cant save e cant use dpad
2) advmame is too slow and no way to use it
3) mame libretro, ask me to select a core and other things in a greenish menu. Is that a part of retroarch? Are there instructiins on how to use it?

To save and load i used advmame with roms version 0.106
So save with f7 and load with shift plus f7.
Advmame has wonderful video option too but is too slow to use

I’m new to retropie and i have the same problem.
With advmame is possible save and load but emulation is very slow even with the pi2

Thank you! Finally I made it! We need to execute fba.exe and in MISC menu there’s the famous option to extract the database!

I have this problem also, romcenter doesn’t seem to support database creation from fba.exe, only from mame. Does anyone have a dat file for building 0.2.97.30 romset?

Hi! I’m totally new to this world and I’m waiting for the pi2 to arrive @ home.
I have a question. With your method with romcenter and a full 0.2.97.34 romset is possible to build A 0.2.97.30 ROMSET?

How will I change retropie to make fba libreto the default emulator?
