01/07/2016 at 11:31 in reply to: Game Save Not Working After 3.3 Upgrade (same .sav as 3.2.1 installation) #113335simillarianParticipant
I made a new game save. Noticed that the extension was .srm. So, I renamed my .sav file to .srm and was able to load the game save.
The following is MY deduction of the situation (I could very well be wrong)… 3.2.1 defaulted with the lr-mednafen-pce emulator (or i chose it). 3.3 no longer has that emulator and only has lr-mednafen-pce-fast. It would seem that the saved game file uses a different extension for this version.

I am rebuilding using FB Alpha v0.2.97.37 (ClrMame Pro XML).dat from the Managing ROMs page for lr-fba-next. I linked to it, but it doesn’t display as a link until you hover.
simillarianParticipantAh! So that is why it wasn’t working after I upgraded to 3.3. I didn’t have the time to figure it out so I was just going to do it later. Thanks for mentioning it! Saved some of my free time this weekend :)
simillarianParticipantYou might have the same issue I was having. Try renaming the ROM to exclude underscores. I renamed the files to…
Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rinne.iso
and
Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rinne.cue
.Don’t forget to update the filename in the .cue file with notepad. In my case the first line needed to change to
FILE "Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rinne.iso" BINARY
Just make sure the file name is the same as your .iso file. Also, make sure you have SYSCARD3.PCE capitalized in the bios folder. This seems to not be true as of v3.3simillarianParticipantI decided to just upgrade to 3.3. Everything is working perfectly now :)
simillarianParticipantIt’s still not working.
simillarianParticipantYes, that is where I downloaded it. I am getting the .78 romset now. I will update on how it goes. Thank you :)
simillarianParticipantStill not working. After I posted this I noticed that there is a new version. I would have installed 3.3 and see how it works first had I known.
simillarianParticipantIt works now. Thanks! :D
simillarianParticipantNevermind. It turns out my bios file needed to be lowercase.
simillarianParticipantI would like to know this too. I can’t get it to work.
simillarianParticipantFIXED IT!!! :)
I had to add two options to /etc/fstab
,nounix,noserverino
So, my file reads as…
//YOUR-SMB-Server/Path/To/Share /home/pi/games cifs credentials=/home/pi/.smbcredentials,iocharset=utf8,nounix,noserverino,sec=ntlm 0 0
Thank you for taking the time to write all of this. It’s much appreciated.
simillarianParticipant
I havent tried to get turbografx cd games working, I do however have PlayStation games working as well as sega cd games. As far as i can tell it should work for the turbografx games. I had a problem with file extensions on the psx in my config once.
I just tested ps1 and segacd games. They work perfectly, so it’s just turbografx cd games. I will have the turbografx CD games on my SD card and they will run. I then procede to delete them from my SD card and edit es_systems.cfg to point to the shared directory and reboot. The turbografx CD games show up on ES, but they will not run.
I will triple check my config file, but I am 99% sure it is correct. The only thing different with the turbografx from the other 2 systems is that it needs syscard3.pce hucard file in the rom folder to run cd games.
Hopefully this will be the last edit lol. The error in my log is..
Value too large for defined data typeError opening CD.
The file sizes are the same as the ps1 and segacd files. I’ll do some research on this.simillarianParticipantIs this supposed to work with CD games also? Regular games are working for me but CD games are not. I am trying it with turbografx cd games. Both my computer and pi are hard wired.
simillarianParticipantYou are awesome for making these! I can’t wait until you are all finished :D. They all look great. Thank you!
simillarianParticipantNevermind, it was a problem with my roms :| After using a different source everything works just fine!
simillarianParticipantIn that case I thought it might be something similar. Inside the rom folder I had everything separated by region. I did away with that and put everything in one folder, and it scraped successfully.
simillarianParticipantThis is happening to me to right now too with NES games on retropie 3.2.1. I am running it from the retropie-setup experimental menu. I see it going through each game, and i have verified that it is downloading the cover art images, but it is not updating the gamelist.xml file.
I am looking in ~/.emulationstation/
I tried restarting ES.
simillarianParticipantBeautiful. Thanks!
simillarianParticipantAfter adding the proper extensions to es_systems.cfg (as stated above) I loaded a PC Engine CD .iso and it got hung up on a black screen. I found that it was due to naming conventions.
This naming convention did not work…
Akumajou_Dracula_X_-_Chi_no_Rinne_(NTSC-J)_[KMCD3005].iso
This naming convention worked…
Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rinne.iso
