rookervikParticipant
I’d love to add overlays “bezels” to all of the 4:3 aspect systems. But from what I’ve tested, adding an overlay affects the performance. Even on Raspberry Pi 2. So I’ve opted to avoid using overlays. :(
rookervikParticipantI was just reading up on Open Beats of Rage yesterday! I’ll definitely have to try this out. I was a little overwhelmed at the lack of organization on the OBOR “mods” as I guess they call them. I couldn’t really find a resource that had a screenshot and description of each of the mods. Is there a good place to read up on Open BOR and find information on the alternate games “mods” ?
rookervikParticipantHere’s a splash screen fitting the overall theme of Carbon. There are a million different ways it could be done, tho. :D

rookervikParticipantThe link is at the bottom of the post. Let me know how, and if, it works.
rookervikParticipantLeefy, I set out to do exactly what you asked, as I would also like the same sort of thing.
So I made this batch file that will attach images you place in the /roms/<system>/images folder to your gamelist.xml
Check this post for more info, and a video. I’ve tested it on 3 systems and it works so far. Make sure not to use it on arcade systems, since they use a much more complicated gamelist method.
rookervikParticipantTLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read) video: How-To video.
Best to keep the Readme open while you watch. I go pretty fast.
rookervikParticipantNot sure pirating has anything to do with the question. Question is, “how can I get images without doing a scrape.”
The only way I’ve been able to get images to link to games is the manual scraper method. To use it, you have to put the images into an “image” folder in the rom folder. It requires you to download a script. There’s more information here in this post.
Looks like it’s also called sselph… perhaps sselph has more options than we see at first.
What we need is a script that does exactly what you are asking. Creates a gamelist.xml with each game and a link to that game’s image in the /roms/images folder. It’s up to the user to make sure all the names match.
rookervikParticipantHahaha! Glad you like it!
rookervikParticipantHehe. Thanks momaw27. I still have Super Mario RPG to go. Usually these splash screens take 10 minutes to an hour. Punch Out took about 5 minutes. :D This one took several hours.
rookervikParticipantBoth SMRPG and Chrono Trigger use anti-aliased text and 3D rendering for their Title Screens. I can’t do 3D, but I can give it a try. Previous Splash Screens have used good old pixel graphics.
rookervikParticipantHahaha! You’re very welcome. This title screen only used 6 colors. It was pretty easy to do. :D I have the ring for Super Punch-out done. That took a little tweaking. Hehe. Now I suppose I should put some text on it.

rookervikParticipantHey herbfargus. I read your comment before the server went kapoot. It did it right as I uploaded the Defender splash screen. Hopefully I didn’t kill it. >_< I should go ahead and re-post that image?
rookervikParticipantThanks! If you like this theme, I have converted about 5 games’ title screens for RetroPie. I haven’t got many replies so I don’t really know if people would like me to make more.
rookervikParticipantHere’s a SNES Super Street Fighter II RetroPie splash screen I just made.
rookervikParticipantHere’s a ‘Legend of Zelda – A Link to the Past’ RetroPie Splash Screen. I like it as it is, but would some people like to have the full RetroPie text, rather than just ‘Retro?’ (Retro just fit properly). I can make these things, I’m just not great at designing them. :-P

rookervikParticipantWoop, didn’t add the second one for some reason? Hopefully I don’t double-post this.
