robertybobParticipant
Check the cable :) Is it pushed in to the Pi properly?
robertybobParticipantMy suggestion would be to eBay your Pi, power supply etc. as I’m sure someone else would be able to get it to work. Then go out and buy a SFF PC and have a much easier time with Windows.
I’ve been running RetroPie since a few months after its first release and I assume you it is the most stable it has ever been.
robertybobParticipantI bet it’s a power supply problem – what power supply are you using? Is it plugged into a surge-protector or something?
robertybobParticipantKeep up the great work Sselph! If ever you want to add more systems and want someone to help you match up IDs or whatever, just ask me :)
robertybobParticipantI’m tempted by a cheap PS3 controller too – one from Game (in the UK) but I’m put off by the face I don’t know if there are drivers to support it.
robertybobParticipant
I’m having dark bars covering much of the menu screen after I scrape for a system.
I’m using the current version of your theme (first link on the first post) and Retropie 3.0 Beta 4.
I have no problem diving into the xmls and tweaking numbers to make it work for me, but I took a look and couldn’t find which setting might be the issue.Another very easy issue. I want to be able to see the number of players for each game. Is that just a matter of changing it’s position to make only that bit of info show?
Thanks in advance!

@ronoh55 I believe this is definitely down to your resolution. The theme works perfectly well on my 39″ TV but when I run:emulationstation --resolution 1024 1024
for example, the bars appear. This does not happen with the Simple theme.*edit*
As an experiment, quit ES and go to the command line, enteremulationstation --resolution 1024 768
(4:3 aspect ratio)
and you should get black bars, then try:
emulationstation --resolution 1024 576
(16:9 aspect ratio)
and this should work okrobertybobParticipantCheers!! :)
robertybobParticipantFrom your image above, which is the Sega 32x? Could you do the 6 button controller for it?
robertybobParticipantI can’t speak for MAME.. but with the systems I have the games will still show up if you have the rom file in the roms folder, whether it’s in the gamelist.xml or not.
robertybobParticipant
How do I upload img files to the forum?
Upload to photobucket or imgr then embed it in your message :)

This is the 3rd alternate layout which may end up going away if I run into more memory issues. The plan is to have a controller layout on the bottom left but time will see. For now I will work on completing the other systems and refining the theme. There are still many changes I need to make and parts I have yet to touch.
I’m really glad to see so many good themes coming after ES has been around for so long :)

I’ve installed this theme on both my Pi1 and Windows PC running ES. I experienced this issue with my Pi on my 17″ monitor (DVI to HDMI connector), but not my Pi on my 39″ TV (HDMI to HDMI).
Originally I thought it was a Pi issue and after fiddling around I thought I had fixed it because it worked fine when connected to my TV, but last night I discovered it still occurs with my monitor.
My PC is connected to the TV and this was fine but I’m yet to connect it to my monitor.
I’ve got a 32″ TV to plug my Pi into next, but tbh I’m still trying to figure out what is causing the problem.
Hope that makes sense- writing this while at work so my head’s all over the place lol
robertybobParticipantI especially like the Sonic one! Would be great if both of these could be added to Sur0x’s plash screen ramdomiser

Could it also be customised to have scrolling text that displays something like:
System > Game > Publisher > Year of Release > Rating
If so, that’s really cool and I wish I had the skills to fit an LCD panel, plus the time and resources to create a customised case which could take advantage of this!
robertybobParticipant
Lucky I backed up my image yesterday, scraped for full romsets and everything working like a dream until I tried to scrape SuperGrafx, Neo Geo Pocket, and Virtual Boy. ES won’t stop freezing, even after I delete gamelists over ftp. Formatted my SD card and will start again. Lost a whole days work. If I had not backed up before scraping the Pi would be in the bin!

Pretty sure having too many systems can cause Emulationstation to lockup – how can you be sure that’s not the problem?
robertybobParticipantSo basically you want the sound outputted to a bluetooth speaker, rather than through a TV or PC/USB speakers?
robertybobParticipantTechnically it’s an Odriod but still, nice looking piece of kit!
robertybobParticipantI think this is a very good idea – although something you’re better off suggesting in the official Emulationstation forum, however, top get the Dev’s attention :)
robertybobParticipantGood stuff!!
robertybobParticipantHi! I haven’t yet downloaded your updated theme as I’m at work, and apologies if this is a dumb question, but will you make available a version with your RetroPie Project logo? I prefer yours to the ‘Official’ one :)
robertybobParticipantI’m not saying it’s terrible idea, but wouldn’t it detract from the aim of RetroPie – to be a great retro game piece of software? I don’t know whether adding this feature would really fit into it, and obviously there’s already an option for installing Kodi (although I appreciate Omxplayer is not as bloated as Kodi).

robertybobParticipantI’ve never heard of this game, but if I ever check it out I’ll definitely use your tutorial :)
robertybobParticipantWow I LOVE this!! Please pester petrockblog to get this added to the RetroPie image!
robertybobParticipant
Do you mean will this theme be added to RetroPie?
or
Have I updated the theme with the above changes?
Sorry, I meant to ask whether the attachment is the most up to date. Silly question lol.
How eager would you be to see this added to RetroPie? Could you make this happen?
robertybobParticipantVery nice!!
robertybobParticipantHave the change you made to it been implemented in the version within RetroPie? :)
robertybobParticipantA nice, original, idea! I hate having to choose from the hundreds of games I have, so for something else to choose for me would be a nice!
robertybobParticipantI think 1280×720 would suffice, but then again it may depend on how detailed your image is :)
robertybobParticipantCan we have a photo of the internals if possible?
How did you get your original ports working with RetroPie?
robertybobParticipantWouldn’t you need Bluetooth rather than wifi? Also, can you get these controllers and/or dongle working on your PC?
robertybobParticipantIs this any closer to being included in RetroPie by default?
robertybobParticipantTerrible article, keeps referring to RetroPie as Emulation Station. ..ES has nothing to do with emulators !!
robertybobParticipantGreat work!!
robertybobParticipantI have no idea if the Pi is powerful enough to run a full screen PDF reader, but I do like the idea of having a gamelist.xml of magazines with front covers in place of game artwork !
With the text: maybe change ‘genre’ to ‘console’ and change ‘developer’ to something else, or remove it completely.
Scrolling through the magazines with a controller would be very cool!
