I would assume the reason would be that RP now runs on Jessie? That’s the only major change since 3.3 that I can think of that could use your issue.
robertybobParticipant
My first post so please go easy on me Big fan of the community and thank everyone’s hard work for making it what it is as I don’t know how to code!
Just an idea I had. As my backlog of games to get through playing is huge, I often forget about games recommended to me. I thought it would be cool if you could highlight/star a game then have the data be compiled in a list. Have a ‘My Games’ icon on the main frontend then have all the highlighted games in it with all their scraped data.

I think your best bet is https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/kid-friendly-retropiees-ui-modes-favorites-hiding-items-s-testers-wanted/ – it has the ability to add favourites, however they won’t appear in their own sub-menu like you’re hoping for.
robertybobParticipantI’d think you’d need to make changes to the Emulationstation code, assuming there’s actually an API for the website?
robertybobParticipantDid you have any luck? Admittedly I’ve just had to submit a few hashes on GH to be added to the database, but it did find the majority of my games.
Awesome! Are you hoping this will be the default Emulatiostation, or do you anticipate this being added as an ‘Experimental’ module for further testing by users (like what happens with new emulators)?
robertybobParticipantRemove either .bin or .cue from the (SegaCD) Extensions bit in your es_systems.cfg
robertybobParticipantSselph’s scraper does support PSX, I helped to link the hashes to TGDB IDs ;)
If you wanted to use the built-in scraper then yes you’ve got to rename the games :)

EDIT: The space in the bottom left I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do. I had a few ideas as seen in the past, but it’s so damn time consuming. I had the system logo there but it kind of looked out of place so maybe some day I’ll revisit it.
I really like the look of this! If I didn’t have 9 different systems’ worth of games I’d download this theme, without you adding other systems my setup would be lots of white screens :(
As for the bottom left, a small box with the metadata? e.g. Publisher, Developer etc?

robertybobParticipantUnderstood! :) Thanks for the update!
robertybobParticipantSlightly relevant – does anyone have a PPSSPP config file for an Xbox 360 controller? For whatever reason it doesn’t let me configure more than 2 buttons before becoming unresponsive.
I’ve tried lr-PPSSPP, but as others have commented it doesn’t run anywhere near as well.

robertybobParticipant
I dont know if this would help but add this to you /boot/config.txt file and see if that helps
boot_delay=x Wait for x seconds in start.elf before loading kernel. Default 1.

Thank you! I’ll give this a go tonight.

robertybobParticipant
Any plans to add Kodi??
Thanks

While this was not my creation, I’m hosting it on my Github. I’ve neglected this theme tbh in favour of my own, but I’m more than happy to do this. May take a week or two due to other commitments, however.
robertybobParticipant
Hello, I would love to see a 3DO emu come to RetroPie, I still have some games and would love to play them on the go.
There is one.. ..and it runs like crap :)
robertybobParticipantTbh I wouldn’t bother, it runs so slowly that the games are unplayable.
robertybobParticipantrobertybobParticipantCheck the names of the ROMs you are scraping vs what they’re called on thegamesdb.net :)

There are NES achievements, are they not working for you?
robertybobParticipantI always thought there was a huge amount of lag when I played SMB (!) Looks like I was right lol
robertybobParticipantPoor internet connection is the only thing I can think of.

It does for me :) Used the modified RetroPie setup script.

Do you have any timescales for implementation of new features (from the other thread)?
robertybobParticipantNES, PS1 , N64 and Sega CD would be lovely! :)

I was thinking about the usefulness of the “restart system” option in the “kiosk” and “kids” mode, and over my experience I didn’t use it at all since there are no available settings in those modes that requires restart, maybe quit section would became straightforward to shutdown system or even show up a pop up”are you sure you wanna quit? yes/no”
well quit it useful if you plan to update roms etc on a regular basis, imho
I update roms via WinSCP so I could always remotely restart the system , but I suppose some people do use the USBRom service?

robertybobParticipantWhere do I store the rest of the files in the .zip? Do I create a new folder in /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader and if so what do I call it?
12/19/2015 at 23:19 in reply to: Kid-friendly Retropie/ES (UI modes, favorites, hiding items) [B-TESTERS WANTED!] #112130robertybobParticipantRight, reinstalled this from the script and I can now have the framerate shown in Kiosk mode. However, I am still unable to change from Full to Kid mode. I ran the debug over Putty so was only able to copy and paste the following
http://pastebin.com/hXMMVsGg
and this is my es_settings.cfg<?xml version="1.0"?> <bool name="BackgroundJoystickInput" value="false" /> <bool name="DrawFramerate" value="false" /> <bool name="EnableSounds" value="true" /> <bool name="FavoritesOnly" value="false" /> <bool name="QuickSystemSelect" value="true" /> <bool name="ScrapeRatings" value="true" /> <bool name="ShowHelpPrompts" value="true" /> <int name="ScraperResizeHeight" value="0" /> <int name="ScraperResizeWidth" value="400" /> <int name="ScreenSaverTime" value="300000" /> <string name="Scraper" value="TheGamesDB" /> <string name="ScreenSaverBehavior" value="dim" /> <string name="ThemeSet" value="carbon" /> <string name="TransitionStyle" value="fade" /> <string name="UIMode" value="Kid" /> <string name="UIMode_passkey" value="uuddlrlrba" />
Changing <string name=”UIMode” value=”Kid” /> to <string name=”UIMode” value=”Full” /> allows me to get back into Emulationstation. The only downside is that once I change this – when I press F4 to quit Emulationstation pressing any key doesn’t bring up the commandline, it just loads ES again.

I’m in Full mode, select Kiosk and turn on Show Framerate , save changes and then the error occurs.
To stop th endless loop of errors I have to edit the configure file and change the settings back.
Hmm, I can do the same thing, without any issue. (aka: I cant reproduce your problem, please give me more specifics!)
- Can you switch modes without involving the frame-rate option?
- Do you have any non hidden items that can be shown at all, I think a completely empty result over all systems could be problematic, I should try that.
- Do you get any logging when running with the debug flag?
emulationstation --debug
With Kid mode as soon as I switch the error comes up. Kiosk mode works fine for me unless I enable Show Framerate.
Give me about 4hrs and I’ll have a go with the –debug bit :)
I don’t understand what you mean by non hidden items being shown – I’m using a fresh installation with no roms (only the ports that come with RetroPie).

My script clones zigurana’s repo with all current and future changes. Don’t run this script within emulationstation. I don’t think you can update emulationstation if emulationstation is running. If it is not working post your build log (/RetroPie-Setup/logs/). There could be a bug or error.
Oh right, fair enough then :) I quit Enulationstation before installing this new one, so can’t be that then lol.

If I choose Kiosk mode and Show Framerate, I get a seemingly infinite loop of error messages:
Trying to reproduce this: I assume that you tried to switch to Kiosk mode while the ShowFrameRate option is turned on?

12/19/2015 at 00:01 in reply to: Kid-friendly Retropie/ES (UI modes, favorites, hiding items) [B-TESTERS WANTED!] #112080robertybobParticipantEdited my last post. In addition to this, I get the same error messages in a loop when selecting Kid mode. Not having much luck :(
Perhaps Gizmo98’s script is pulling an old version like LodanZark suggested (?) I dunno.
