retroman33Participant
Think I’ve solved my issue. The video files I had been adding I was renamming within FileZilla once loaded to the Pi. I instead recoded the files to a smaller bitrate, and changed the video properties from unscaled to 1920X1080 and renamed them to the same folder name before loading them over. They seem to be working now.
retroman33ParticipantHave not tried to put other movies into the same folder as the one that works. Will give that a crack today. I assumed each file would need its own folder from previous experience. All movies had the right chmod permissions, proven to work when RetroPie is pointed to the file to load individually. No differences between the paths of each folder/file… all file names are identical to folder name. I’ll give a go putting all the files into the one folder that works and see what happens! Thank you for all your replies.
retroman33Participantit’s basically a CANNOT LOAD: “file path”, then the line disappears, with a load failure of the name of the file.
I can get my original video to load fine, but the subsequent videos I’ve created won’t play nice. So 4/5 times I get a load failure, and the other time my first video plays fine. I’ve sudo’ed the whole folder so it has the permissions.
The other vids have been created the same way through imovie, then contained into a h.264 MP4 file, and have been proven to play upon start up without the randomiser.
Feel like I am almost making it work, but overlooking something.
retroman33ParticipantHey sur0x, just uploaded the vids to the supplementary folder, and they get the loading error message at the bottom of the screen with the path to the file visible. All files are confirmed to work outside of the randomizer.
any ideas?
retroman33ParticipantJust realised they will be in the supplementary folder,as suggested above in a previous post. Will try it out soon.
retroman33ParticipantJust tried to update, and see what happened. Still getting the images rather than the videos i’ve embedded. Thinking perhaps I have not placed them in the correct folder.
I have them in home/pi/splashscreens
They are also in home/pi/retropiesplashscreens/splashscreens
Also in home/pi/Retropie/SplashscreensAll three locations have the movies only. Still getting the images popping up instead even though to my knowledge they should be deleted.
It’s kicking my brain, but still fun.
retroman33ParticipantApologies for the late reply, dealing with my wifes pregnancy at the moment. I’ve updated and it works perfectly. However, I’ve deleted all the static images and replaced them with 5 movies in the same folder structure, in their own folders. When I restart I am still receiving the same static art images you’ve inserted. Do I need to reupdate the script now that I’ve replaced items?
retroman33ParticipantWill give it a crack right now, stay tuned!
retroman33ParticipantHi sur0x,
This has to be the fastest response ever! You are awesome.
I’d actually like to solve the issue rather than delete, as your project is one of the most exciting aspects of my system if I can get it working.
I am on the latest 3.2.1, which I saw wasn’t the 3.1 you stated is the latest build.
I have made numerous videos that worked previous to the script, but cannot get them to load. I’ve placed the videos in the folder that you’ve created, the supp folder, and the config folder that emulationstation provides for loading your own. I’ve rerun the setup_splash.sh after doing so. Can’t get videos or the pictures to load.
retroman33ParticipantI’ve just installed this script, and it has basically broken any splash screen functionality on my system. I get the Loading Failed text on the bottom left hand side of the screen when the splash screen should be present.
Is there a a simple script written to remove this process?
retroman33ParticipantGood point, thanks for adding that in.
retroman33ParticipantFor anyone suffering from this issue in the future, delete es_input.cfg AND es_systems.cfg and reboot. It will then accept the USB controllers.
retroman33ParticipantSorted it out.
delete es_input.cfg AND es_systems.cfg and reboot. It will then accept the USB ports.

retroman33ParticipantI’ve reposted this issue into a new thread in hopes that it may receive a response by anyone with more knowledge than I, so please refer to
for any help!
Thanks
retroman33ParticipantIt won’t accept keyboard input either, but will allow me to hit F4 to exit back to cammandline.
retroman33ParticipantAuswear, did you find a workaround for losing complete USB detection? I just updated and cannot get past the Welcome Configure controller screen in ES.
Setup that last worked = 3.0 using traditional SNES controllers.
Updated to 3.2.1, and upon startup the ES Configuration of controllers can detect my controllers and/or keyboard, but will not accept any input to start the actual configuration.
I’ve reupped the update setup script, and i’ve updated again from binary to no avail. Last resort after work tonight is to jump into the ES_input.cfg file and see if theres anything wrong there.
I’ve also exited ES and gone back in to see if it was an issue with loading the cfg file when turning on the system.
So turning on the system from scratch detechs gamepads, but won’t bring up their name when i hold down a button to start config. When i exit ES and re-enter, the name of the controller will come up on first press, but as i hold the button the config program won’t start.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
