I love the Castlevania 2D games – my favourite so far is Circle of the Moon on GBA, and all the Nintendo DS games are really good too – but I’ve heard nothing but praise for SotN.
r6gyyParticipantStill on 2.6. I’ve got the save working – just had to get to the 1st in-game save point.
My next task is to try and get my PSX controller working with UAE4ALL2, or perhaps investigate which joypads people have had success with. Project X is difficult enough with a joypad/joystick never mind trying with keyboard!
I’ve got the PS3 controller (wireless), and a wired Rock Candy X-Box style controller to play with at the moment. Would rather everything worked with the wireless PS3 as it is just a tidier/more elegant solution.
Onwards . . . .
r6gyyParticipantCSR dongles should work according to http://elinux.org/RPi_USB_Bluetooth_adapters
One thing that springs to mind from the instructions I followed is that you need to have both devices plugged in at the start of the process – bluetooth dongle AND PS3 controller.
Is there any other way you can test that the dongle itself is working?
Sorry if that doesn’t help!
r6gyyParticipantSorted after some digging around the internet. Saw a comment somewhere that some older PSX games do not support analog controllers.
So I went into the emulator and switched controller 1 from Analog to Standard and now it works fine.
Just need to work out how to get the memory card (or save statea?) working on this game now. I really don’t want to go through the starting preamble and fight scene every time I want to start the game!
r6gyyParticipantI’ve tried 4 other games with no issues – Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3, Tekken 3, and Castelevania Chronicles.
So whatever it is, is specific to Castlevania SotN.
Ho hum.
r6gyyParticipantThe controller works perfectly with R-Type: Delta in the PSX emulator, including the Start button. I will try some more games tonight. Also – I can access the emulator using Select+F1 during SotN and go through the button mapping – all show as working correctly. Just the button(s) don’t work during SotN itself.
Can I ask what controller you are using?
The only other thing I can think of is I haven’t prepared the .bins correctly. But I’ve followed the instructions regarding un-ecming the main .bin, and un-apeing the track 2 file to wav and converting back to .bin using wav to bin.exe. The game loads ok but I cannot get beyond the start screen. So frustrating. At least I’ve got GBA working and can play Castlevania: Circle of the Moon :-)
