I tried it with virtual racer / fighter (they have timers in the game) and if they were off, it was about 1/10th of a second if i recall
i can retest it again sometime later again to see if its still thereproxycellParticipant@herbfargus: I completely agree with you about this stuff. i understand it requires a lot of development of other software-components to really take advantage of the new hardware capabilities – and there are still emulator/optimization issues that will not be overcome by hardware improvements
the WiFi really is neat to me but I will hold off on the new RPi3 for now – maybe in a year or so it will make better sense for me as right now I would only use it for a router/server
proxycellParticipantHi Floob, that enhanced resolution setting made things look a bit better and I don’t think it really impacted performance all that much really – was there a reason you did not enable the speed hack for that setting?
proxycellParticipantI was speaking in general. The jessie installs have required more RAM in my own experience as well as this thread here: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=121214
Not saying the emulator or retropie has changed with anything, I am doing my first real Jessie setup of RetroPie right now as we speak (since the official RPi website has removed the old Wheezy image…)
proxycellParticipantI can tell you that with my RPi2 and overclocked, I had no issues with 32x. This was back on Wheezy so Jessie may have reduced performance.
proxycellParticipantI believe Jessie is actually a bit more resource-intensive than Wheezy – I base this entirely upon a thread on some other board I read where a person posted ram usage stats for clean wheezy and jessie installs
proxycellParticipantThanks a lot Steven!
proxycellParticipantHey Steven,
Long time since I last used your scraperI hope this thread is the one to be used for such things:
How would I go about ADDING to this database? I have every fan-translated game there is and I would love for them to be scraped as the original game
proxycellParticipantplease review this commit: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commit/683115fddffb12e2b5aad82b90f6548a984f88e4
The joystick driver was switched from sdl2 to udev – likely do to these issues we’ve been having here
i see another commit to deal with an autostart issue and some stuff for jessie-compatability too so things are being worked on by good and competent folken
proxycellParticipanttry SDL controller driver
proxycellParticipantok, i got my controller configured again!
i had to do it from inside RetroArch’s menu (loaded up a game, pressed F1)
then i manually configured each button again and saved this configuration. it created a new file in my retroarch-joypads directoryi have since added in all the hotkeys again
I am uploading this file for you all to use: “http://iruberleet.org/files/Logitech F710 Gamepad (XInput).cfg” – please copy this entire link inside the quotation marks and download it
i had this controlled set to the “X” position for xinput, i will likely create another for direct – i do not guarantee that this will work for you all but if you do in fact have the F710 this should work in xinput mode
Direct Input (D): “http://iruberleet.org/files/Logitech F710 Gamepad (DInput).cfg” – can’t get the hotkeys to work but the regular stuff works perfect now – just leave it in XINput
proxycellParticipantok, i just did everything fresh again
fresh Wheezy on the card, then installed from source in this order ->
1. Emulation Station
2. RetroARch
3. A bunch of emulators
4. Added some roms and restarted the console
5. entered a game and it once again throws the yellow text up onto the screen saying my controller is not configuredi will continue testing this to find out why this is the case – these controllers have always worked with RetroPie
proxycellParticipant@nschloe & @aticatac:
are you two using 3.2.1 or 3.3?i will re-test this today
proxycellParticipant@herbfargus: I will try that again
@InsecureSpike: X, is that the “modern” one?proxycellParticipantHi herbfargus – when do I tap that button?
thank you for your help as well!
proxycellParticipanthmm that is great to know but is there a way to backup my configurations?
proxycellParticipantThank you very much ronoh55!
Those appear to be very reasonable objectives for the time being. I look forward to the next point-update.proxycellParticipant@ napalm:
i believe those are a type of audio file?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc_Digital_Audioin which case they would be copyrighted, can’t share them here. i’m actually pretty confident that most of the doom game’s code is free now but the audio files are still protected by law
what i can tell you is that you may need to rip/obtain a different image for the doom game that contains such files. or else you have to obtain them, add them to the game by creating a new image file.
proxycellParticipantwell there ya go, someone has tested it today before me :)
proxycellParticipanthey smooth,
just because the roms are for a recent version of FBA you should keep in mind that the FBA being used here is not as recent…i hate to ask, but do you have a raspberry pi 2 b? i will try this out shortly so reply back here and i will get a notification and update you on the status of mine
proxycellParticipantwhy are you guys using 128mb of gpu memory only? i figured most people were using 256…
proxycellParticipantcan’t you just switch discs from the retroarch menu?
proxycellParticipantwill that work if i have nothing installed yet? i think that is only for updating things afterwards
maybe i will have to go back to source compiling…
proxycellParticipantthis sounds freaking amazing… this totally blows my workaround away… i had setup on my own a theme that let you pick different emulators by basically being “different” systems
this is far more elegant and appropriate
Note: everyone should be testing this out asap
proxycellParticipantbecause it is liking engaging the gfx processing to simply display that image. it isn’t just loading up an image like your web browser does. its creating a video service most likely and using that to display that image. the size of the image and resolution of the output is like a contributing factor here
thats how :)
proxycellParticipanttry compiling everything fresh on it
proxycellParticipantwhile there may be some improvements with the new hardware please temper your expectations… N64 emulation isn’t that great on a $20,000 computer either (in terms of compatibility)
proxycellParticipantthanks for this!
i think thats the only sound so far right?does anyone have a sound file that I could use?
proxycellParticipanteven shorter :)
thanks!proxycellParticipantkeep trying everything you can…
eventually a list of compatible games will have to be setup on the wiki and people will have to test under strict conditionsproxycellParticipantpetrockblog likes your theme enough to add it to the default system:
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/616i was wondering if i could ask you three things however:
1. can you add in more consoles to this theme or are you done? i’m thinking of the atari lynx and Final Burn Alpha
2. you included the “simple” theme’s readme.txt, please take a look
3. do you know how to implement a sound effect for the theme? :)thanks a lot!
you’ve inspired me a little bit nowproxycellParticipantplease open up your CUE files in a text editor, make sure that the bin file they are pointing to is named 100% the same in the file
thats how i fixed mine
proxycellParticipantI believe I had Metal Gear Solid working on it, some lag though
And like one of the Crash Bandicoots… sorry i’m not very good at this lolPSX games are quite “large” by comparison to the other ones so I haven’t jumped into it yet.
01/25/2015 at 19:10 in reply to: Nes and Snes ROMS running super slow, do I need to overclock the Pi? #85919proxycellParticipantno they are not “safe”, please use heatinks
your pi will should automatically clock itself back down when it reaches 80C or 80C or whatever the default temp limit is set to.still not a great idea to let it reach those temps and rely upon a safety check
proxycellParticipantthe main reason those get “ignored” lately is because you can’t exit them as readily as other emulators with a gamepad/controller right?
