So I’m not sure why this works suddenly but I installed the libretro core version of mupen and changed my memory split to 128 gpu and 384 cpu.

Now the controllers work (haven’t tested 2 player yet) but the performance is pretty bad and the graphics in menus and such are sometimes scrambled. Otherwise the games are for the most part playable (if you know the menus by heart like I do). Any ideas how to fix the graphics and performance?
I haven’t touched the config file at all since last time. And it might be default. I don’t know how libretro handles these things.

Thanks for your previous help in solving these issues!

same here except arrow keys don’t work for me and My split is set to 255

Thanks for your support I just went through the retropie_setup and installed n64 with retroarch and now the esc button works! But now the keyboard up/down/left/right key do not work. It’s also not in fullscreen even though in config file fullscreen is set true. Not a big deal tho.

Both can be started from emulationstation. But you can only exit mupen64plus-libretro with escape. See also –> https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/mupen64plus-ricrpi-branch/page/2/

OK I did get it to run via emulation station but controlling the game via keyboard does not work. Does it only work with a USB game controller? I’m ordering one so I can’t test right now.

The included n64 emulator of RetroPie 2.3 SD-card image seems to be broken. There are there n64 emulators at the moment. mupen64plus-rpi (deprecated), a newer mupen64plus fork from ricrpi and a mupen64plus-libretro core.

It’s necessary to update RetroPie-Setup to build and install the newer emulators.

Just disable emulationstation with “F4″, update RetroPie-Setup and install one emulator with RetroPie-Setup:
    Press F4
    cd RetroPie-Setup
    sudo git pull
    sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

    Select Experimental Packages

Does this allow it to work through emulation station? My problem is it all works fine if I run the game via terminal but it does not start in emulationstation

    So… I compiled a version of mupen64plus from https://github.com/ricrpi/mupen64plus which works great when typing mupen64plus ~/location/to/rom/file.n64
but it does not want to start up through emulationstation even though I changed the /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg to use the compiled version!

Funny thing is if I edit the es_systems.cfg file to run mupen64plus with sudo, Emulation Station will run a n64 game but then the keyboard won’t work so I can’t ESC the game or even control it with keyboard…

Any help appreciated! I would love to get this working
