Keymaster
I have the X-Arcade DIY dual kit installed in an arcade cab.

What do you get when you follow the commands given above (https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/retropie-not-recognizing-xarcade-dual-tank-stick/#post-10106)?
petrockblog
KeymasterWhat does the command
ls /dev/input
show? If there are entries likejs0
,js1
etc. this indicates that the OS has registered joystick devices. If Xarcade2Jstick is properly running one of the jsX files represents player 1 and another one represents player 2 on the DualStick. You can test these devices on OS level, e.g., with the command
jstest /dev/input/js0
. Adjustjs0
tojs1
,js2
etc. accordingly.petrockblog
KeymasterIt depends some variables like your overclock settings or your sd-card class.
I would say that 22 hours is still not bad as long as something is happening from time to time in the console.
petrockblog
KeymasterYou can find the most recent version of SNESDev at Github – the lines with the pin usage start here. Pin 24 is currently not used.
I hope that helps!?
petrockblog
KeymasterJust to let you know: A major update to version 2.0 is on it’s way :-)
petrockblog
KeymasterI only had the Tankstick for the development of Xarcade2Jstick. However, it should be possible to extend Xarcade2Jstick to also support the DualStick.
Could you post the output of the command
sudo lsinput
here?If the command
lsinput
is unknown you can install this tool withsudo apt-get install -y input-utils
.What we are looking for is something similar to the output as shown below:

KeymasterThe Xarcade Tankstick is working with RetroPie seamlessly now!
If you are more interested in this have a look at https://www.petrockblock.com/2014/06/01/xarcade2jstick/.

KeymasterFYI: RetroPie will support the X-Arcade Tankstick soon. I am working on this these days …

KeymasterYou can either use the function of the RetroPie-Setup Script for updating the binaries or you can use the source-based installation to compile FastDosbox on your own. The binaries-based update should be faster, though.
petrockblog
KeymasterIf you think that the script of Cacophony555 would be a valuable addition to the RetroPie-Setup Script it would be great if you could post a corresponding bash function with it or even a pull request at Github.
petrockblog
KeymasterIt compiled fine and it also started. I did not do more testing, so please feel free to give feedback!
You can install FastDosbox by updating your installation with the RetroPie-Setup Script.
petrockblog
KeymasterI have merged your suggested bug fix for that issue today – thanks a lot for that!
I have not had time to test that, though.
petrockblog
KeymasterI updates the binaries archive recently. Does a new binaries-based installation work for you? Take care that you have enough disk space available. The last binaries archive accidentally got way too large …

KeymasterPlease post this idea in the issues list of EmulationStation’s Github repository at https://github.com/Aloshi/EmulationStation/issues?state=open. Aloshi is always open-minded for enhancements!
petrockblog
KeymasterI am having a look into this right now …
petrockblog
KeymasterI am in close contact with Aloshi, the author of Emulation Station.
You can be sure that the new version will be added to the RetroPie Project as soon as it is released :-)
petrockblog
KeymasterI am glad to hear that you made the controllers work :-)
Currently, you would have to swap the data lines on the connectors. Alternatively, you could change the configuration files, e.g., in
/home/pi/RetroPie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
.petrockblog
KeymasterThanks to gizmo98, this issue could be solved (see also https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/311).
petrockblog
KeymasterWhat about “xapplications.shinc”?

KeymasterHere is the drawing converted into PNG format:

KeymasterMaybe you need to change the owner and/or group of the folders via
chgrp
/chown
commands?03/28/2014 at 07:51 in reply to: HELP NEEDED. First person to solve my problem will receive an arduino uno. #5790petrockblog
KeymasterAnother thing – swap data 1 and data 2. Does this lead to swapped gamepads on the console as well?

KeymasterSince only js0 and js1 exist in the input directory, I assume that only SNESDev is running and not interfering with, say, the gamecondriver (which can also be installed via the RetroPie-Setup Script – DON’T DO THAT!).
Also, one pad is working, which means that all connections except one data pin are properly connected and SNESDev is running correctly.
Now, I would try and check or even reconnect the data lines on the breadboard. Just a wild guess, though.
I keep my fingers crossed that you can solve the problem until sunday!
petrockblog
KeymasterYes, you can use the
mv
command to put the RetroPie installation wherever you want. Note, however, that there are also user specific files in the directory.emulationstation
. These files were put into the home directory of the then active user. That said, you can move the RetroPie folder wherever you like as long as the location still is a subfolder of the same user.Hope that helps!?

Keymaster
For many of the emulators there are newer versions than those in version 1.91. When can I expect approximately with a new finished Image (Retropie version 2.0)?
I have tried many times with the Retropie setup script to update everything, but something still does work.
Frustrates me so
If you encounter any error during the execution of any function, it would be great if you could post the actions to reproduce that error. In this way, we could find and fix the bug more easily.
petrockblog
KeymasterMaybe Aloshi, the author of ES, can give you a hint. You could reach him via his website (www.aloshi.com) or Github (https://github.com/Aloshi/EmulationStation/issues?state=open).
petrockblog
KeymasterYes, PPSSPP is part of the RetroPie Script. However, it does not compile and/or (can’t remember) successfully.
If the recipe from above works well, it would be great if someone could post a pull request to add it to the RetroPie-Setup Script.

KeymasterThe button is used by SNESDev to simulate virtual key presses, e.g., ESC, r(ewind), or even the shutdown command.
The JP1 header on the adapter PCB is “only” a break out of GND, 3.3V, 5V, and some GPIO pins for arbitrary use.
petrockblog
KeymasterThe pin numbering of the 2×13 header is not correct in the schematics. It has to be changed to the opposite direction.
petrockblog
KeymasterI agree to the idea to have packages that contain individual components like single emulators, cores etc.

Keymaster
Be careful not to just drag and drop this zip on to your install as this contains config files that will mess up your install..just a warning.

Thanks for that hint. I have removed the config files from that package and updated the download right now.petrockblog
KeymasterI also like the idea of this project. I am curious where this leads to …
petrockblog
KeymasterThese themes look great!
Due to the size of the theme package, I have added it to the downloads section of RetroPie. You can find it here.
Great work!

Keymaster
@petrockblog
The installation and settings.xml are fixed now. There is no script error if retroarch.cfg, dgenrc or gngeorc exists. But there is another problem. ES-Configs doesn’t change settings. It replaces the existing config files. My current retroarch.cfg and dgenrc only contain joypad settings
Hmm, it would be best if ES-config would replace existing key-value-pairs or add them when they do not exist. Unfortunately, I am not the author of ES-config. It is Aloshi (who is also developing EmulationStation). Maybe this could put on the issues list of ES-config and be solved there? -
