petrockblogKeymaster
on the wiki
petrockblogKeymasterthey were only released today, so expect to wait until at least one of the devs has one :-)
petrockblogKeymasterI will likely need updating with the latest firmware first. you could try installing retropie-setup from binary on top of raspbian though in the meantime (or use another rpi to update the image)
petrockblogKeymasterim assuming they have packaged up firmware/kernel changes – there is a kernel/firmare update from a few days ago. apt-get update/dist-upgrade should be enough.
petrockblogKeymastermake sure you update it on the rpi2 first (sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade).
I can’t advise further until I receive mine.
petrockblogKeymasterWhat version of retropie ? I recommend starting from a new image.
petrockblogKeymaster/opt/retropie/configs/all is the correct location
petrockblogKeymasterThere will be no “rpi3” build – the rpi2 code will used currently. if raspbian do a 64bit version of the os, this may change.
petrockblogKeymasterpetrockblogKeymasteractually that won’t be needed – it will identify as a rpi2
petrockblogKeymasterRaspbian is currently going to stick at 32bit for now “At launch, we are using the same 32-bit Raspbian userland that we use on other Raspberry Pi devices; over the next few months we will investigate whether there is value in moving to 64-bit mode.”
so the rpi2 build will be the one to use for now. when calling retropie-setup script you may need to do
sudo __platform=rpi2 ./retropie_setup.sh
petrockblogKeymasteryes – the current rpi2 image should run. There is of course no ETA for the a 64bit version – at least it will be when we have a board (I have one ordered). I was just surprised by the post, since they have only been on sale for a matter of hours and we are being asked about an ETA.
petrockblogKeymasterIs this post a joke or ?

02/27/2016 at 15:00 in reply to: 0 available disc space showing after updating to latest binary #118353petrockblogKeymasteryeh some of the space is reserved for root (so the system will work even when full) – if you want to use it you can
tune2fs -m 0 /dev/sda2
which will make the space available for all users. you could also set this to a value lower than 5 (in %).
petrockblogKeymasterit is already corrected for the future images. For those that install on raspbian – this should be something that gets documented.
petrockblogKeymastershould be fixed now.
petrockblogKeymastercheck /tmp/runcommand.log
the only differences should be the addition of installing xinit also, but ill try and reproduce.
petrockblogKeymasterit requires manual changing of the runcommand script also, or manually change the config – edit configs/all/videomodes.cfg and change it to 320×200
but actually it won’t help I think as the framebuffer will maintain the aspect ratio so will end up letterboxed itself.
petrockblogKeymasterThe instructions I gave.
you can add a 320×200 entry to /etc/fb.modes and see if that helps.
petrockblogKeymasterLove it :-)
02/26/2016 at 15:11 in reply to: POLL: Which default video mode do you prefer? (video_smooth on or off) #118229petrockblogKeymasterON (I wasn’t going to vote – but since herb did :-) )
It actually depends on which monitor I use – one of my monitors looks good with it on, another is too blurry.
petrockblogKeymasterYou only need to use the micro USB plug on the ControlBlock. You should have a USB adapter with at least 2 A.
petrockblogKeymasterReminds me of an issue with a cable of mine. I was surprised to see that one of my USB cables also leads to this effect. Changing to a high-quality cable (=thicker cable, less resistance) solved such an issue for me.
petrockblogKeymasterSome thoughts:
– Does it behave the same when no other USB device is connected?
– Does the installation of the ControlBlock driver run through with any errors?
– Which OS are you using so that I could test it out on my site?
– Which driver are you using? The ones for ControlBlock rev. 1.x or 2.x?
– Are you using a toggle or a momentary switch? The ControlBlock needs a toggle switch.Maybe we can make a step forward with these thoughts …
petrockblogKeymasternot without code changes.
petrockblogKeymasterIt won’t work – not without some RetroPie changes.
petrockblogKeymasterno need to manually edit the file – can use the config editor from within the retropie menu – https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor
choose “change common retroarch options” and then all/retroarch.cfg and you should see video_smooth in the list.
petrockblogKeymasteryou need samples for donkey kong on earlier mame (runs fine on mame4all with a samples pack)
petrockblogKeymasterX86/X11 support is pretty good.
Odroid is bad/limited.
there will be no images. source only.
petrockblogKeymasteror even just updating retropie-setup and re-installing from binary (as I updated the binary a day or two ago)
petrockblogKeymasterpetrockblogKeymasterand you would need to launch it before emulationstation – via /etc/profile.d/10-emulationstation.sh etc
petrockblogKeymasterIf you have another source of covers and you want to create a scraper, or make a script to add the images to the gamelist xml, or do it manually, then sure – otherwise just wait.
