update retropie-setup and go to “configure splashscreen” in retropie-setup – it will install the default splashscreens and a new startup script.
petrockblogKeymasterThey do get installed by default yeh, they get installed when using the splashscreen module. They use around 41MB. If you set up your splashscreen how you want it you can remove /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen to free it up.
petrockblogKeymasterI have just made changes to this. System distributed splashscreens live in /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen – they are not owned by user pi, and should not be modified (so the system can update without problems).
The user splashscreens go to ~/RetroPie/splashscreens
if you update retropie-setup – and re-configure splashscreens and sambashares you should end up with a samba share pointing to ~/RetroPie/splashscreens – the splashscreen configuration now has some additional options – to browse retropie-setup splashscreens and to browser own splashscreens.
petrockblogKeymasterno, as you will not get new default configs etc. You would have to also run the “install from binaries” option, which would leave some .rp-dist configs which have the new defaults. It would then be a manual process of copying/merging those into the retroarch.cfg configs.
petrockblogKeymasterNote I have adjusted the text a little bit on the wiki regarding cpu scaling.
petrockblogKeymasterIf they had set it to rewind in the psx config (and it was above the include line) it would have overwritten the all/retroarch.cfg default. the per system configs are designed by default to override all/retroarch.cfg
if anyone doesn’t like video_threaded set to false, they can either enable it globally or on a per system basis.
petrockblogKeymasterI’m unlikely going to add support for adding multiple networks to the wifi module – for those that need that they can do as you have mentioned and edit menually, or install wicd.
petrockblogKeymasterif it’s set to false in the main retroarch.cfg there is no point setting it to false in per system configs correct. rewind is disabled by default.
The video_threaded option may help with performance for some emulators that barely run full speed etc – it can easily be switched on and off without any file editing by using the config editor from the supplementary menu.
petrockblogKeymasterIt is no slower than v1 – you just probably haven’t overclocked your pi.
retropie v1 is unsupported.
petrockblogKeymasterWhen configuring controls on a keyboard, retropie 3 uses the same hotkey style as with a gamepad. This is so that when using arcade style controllers that map to keypresses, RGUI menu and exit is available. It also stops conflicts with other hotkeys that may be defined – which could be accidently triggered before.
You can force the hotkey behaviour by adjusting configs/all/retroarch.cfg or by using the retroarch input configuration menu in retropie-setup and choosing an alternative hotkey scheme.
petrockblogKeymasterThey are the right way round now in 3.0 final – there is a known bug they dont work until after restarting ES if configuring for the first time.
petrockblogKeymasterInstead of editing /usr/bin/bluez-simple-agent have you tried passing a parameter ?
/usr/bin/bluez-simple-agent -c DisplayYesNo …
Looking at the code it checks for this parameter although it’s poorly documented.
petrockblogKeymasterThe licence we have is for our source – emulators have their own licence. The MAME licence does not allow MAME to be sold for example.
petrockblogKeymasterThe manual configuration is needed as it uses the config to configure retroarch. we don’t hardcode any controls for specific controllers.
petrockblogKeymasterI have already built one beeb emulator – needs some custom gui code for the disk selection code though when running from console.
I’m sure they will get added in time – there is already a ticket open regarding the bbc.
petrockblogKeymasterInstall the xbox userspace driver from retropie-setup supplementary menu and the shoulder buttons will work correctly – you will need to reconfigure via emulationstation after a reboot.
petrockblogKeymasterplayer 2 will need to be configured manually in retroarch.cfg (if using it as a keyboard device).
petrockblogKeymasterpetrockblogKeymastertried hdmi_mode=16 ?
petrockblogKeymasterPlease post any configs to pastebin.com or similar and reference them.
petrockblogKeymasterwithout at least the config you are talking about I cannot advise.
08/12/2015 at 20:58 in reply to: USB Auto-ROM Copy Service Not Working? And Another Problem?! #103875petrockblogKeymasterthe GBA problem – It’s not a bios issue, but a mismatch between the version of runcommand installed I think (and other parts of the set-up)
You say you are running 2.6 ? That is no longer supported and a lot has changed since then, so I would recommend you start with a 3.0 image and go from there.
08/12/2015 at 14:05 in reply to: XBox 360 wired controller configuration problem with version 3.0 official #103859petrockblogKeymasterinstall the userspace 360 driver first (from retropie-setup supplementary)
petrockblogKeymasterlibretro bluemsx supports joysticks btw – which might be even better as it’s retroarch based
petrockblogKeymasteryeh mame4all would need source code changes to get default controls from somewhere – automatic control config for pifba is planned – as herb pointed out we have a bug or two to fix first. Cheers.
petrockblogKeymasterSorry, but this is way beyond the scope of this project. as RetroPie is based on top of Raspbian, you should be able to get a VPN up and running by following some guides. If not – you could post on the raspberry pi forum for help with it.
petrockblogKeymasterIt won’t auto connect doing it that way – so better to use wpa wpa supplicant roaming feature. Put the file as it was before, and update retropie-setup – you will then find a wifi configuration tool under supplementary menu.
petrockblogKeymasterafaik not without modifications to retroarch.
petrockblogKeymastergo to /etc/profile.d/
remove 10-emulationstation.sh if it exists.
make a new file – such as 10-cavestory.sh
with the contents
"$HOME/RetroPie/roms/ports/Cave Story.sh"
and it should get launched on start up (if the system is set to log in automatically).
petrockblogKeymasterBecause the options are not locked to the numbers. As new options are added the ordering can change etc. So look for the equivalent menu entry by the text.
petrockblogKeymasterSomewhat odd to post that something isn’t fixed if you haven’t even tried the latest release. Please update to 3.0rc1 or wait for the final 3.0 which is due very soon, and test on that.
petrockblogKeymasterThanks btw – Just to let people know I have answered – am waiting on a reply from a local friend regarding a loan first, but if not, I will certainly take the offer – and thanks again.
petrockblogKeymasteryou can update to the very latest version by installing just retropie from source via retropie-setup menu 5.
the version number is in the “in game” rgui, activated by select + X
petrockblogKeymasterAlso are you using retropie 3.0rc1 ?
