petrockblogKeymaster
sudo apt-get install libudev-dev
sounds like you removed some packages it relies on or something else has happened.
petrockblogKeymasterDid you try the other libretro emulator lr-catsfc which will use the autogenerated controller configuration ? There is also pocketsnes, and armsnes (these are faster but less accurate).
petrockblogKeymasterSome thoughts:
Which Raspbian / RetroPie image are you using?
Are you overclocking?
Are the controllers properly connected to the sockets and the sockets, in turn, with the GPIO Adapter?
How long are the cables? SNESDev is tested with standard SNES controllers so far.
It sounds as if the timing is somehow off, yes.
What is the CPU load of the SNESDev service?petrockblogKeymasterthe binary is built – not working could be completely unrelated. Please detail the problem you are having.
petrockblogKeymasterthey are not errors, only warnings due to incorrect clock on system vs dates on fils.
petrockblogKeymasterIf you are getting more lag when overclocking, you might want to check your PSU/USB Cable. Perhaps you have power supply issues causing this.
petrockblogKeymasteryou might want to try changing the video_threaded setting to false which could improve input lag.
petrockblogKeymastervideo_hard_sync is unused on the RPI.
petrockblogKeymasterYep. for example if you want a custom es_systems.cfg you can create one in ~/.emulationstation and it will be used over the retropie one. You will of course then have to manually update it if there are changes to the way things are launched etc.
petrockblogKeymasteryou should use /home/pi/.emulationstation/themes and not mess with /etc/emulationstation permissions etc – also 777 is never a good idea, as it makes it writable to any user, and is the wrong permissions for files (sets the executable bit).
petrockblogKeymasterYou can do a basic test of those controls by using the command
jstest /dev/input/js1
When you have verified that, you can go on and configure the specific emulator(s).petrockblogKeymasterGlad that you figured it out yourself already. Yes, Jessie is still not officially supported because of those observations.
If one of the SNES controllers is not working, it might be a connection problem with the data line of that controller.
petrockblogKeymasterwithout slowdown on what set up ? Pi1 ? Pi2 ? uae4arm is getting more development currently. Have you overclocked also ? What settings are you using ?
petrockblogKeymasterThe wiki is user editable, and the Wii U Pro page is a user contributed page – I guess Jessie is working ok for them currently. Jessie is mentioned in the main README.md https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/README.md
petrockblogKeymasterJust to re-iterate – when reporting problems please give all information. Especially if doing major changes like upgrading a distribution. I need this information to advise – if not it is a massive waste of my time :(
petrockblogKeymasterYou had upgraded to Jessie ? You should have mentioned that. Please don’t use Jessie just yet – especially if you will have any difficulties debugging issues.
Splashscreen does work on Jessie, but boot settings in raspi-config need changing. Also if you upgrade to Jessie there are other things that could change that need sorting.
petrockblogKeymasterand disabling overclock just to make sure it’s not causing fbi to crash when booting or something (if it’s not a stable overclock for example).
petrockblogKeymasteravoid_safe_mode is not needed and is removed from current firmwares.
you’ve not changed anything else ? no changes to /boot/cmdline.txt ? No other changes that could affect it ? can’t think why it isn’t working I’m afraid, you might need to try a fresh image and copy your configs over.
petrockblogKeymasterdo you get any errors logged at startup? have you adjusted any kernel or boot parameters ?
You have raspi-config set to boot to terminal not into X?
also try
insserv -r asplashscreen insserv asplashscreen
petrockblogKeymastereverything looks in order.
from a terminal (directly on the rpi rather than via ssh) does the following work ?
fbi -l /etc/splashscreen.list
petrockblogKeymasteralso from a terminal please post the output of
md5sum /etc/init.d/asplashscreen
petrockblogKeymasterwhich splashscreen ? post the contents of /etc/splashscreen.list (can see it via option 6 of splashscreen configuration – manually edit splashscreen list)

petrockblogKeymasterit was a bug that was fixed a few days ago. update retropie-setup script, and then go to splashscreens configuration, and update splashscreens
petrockblogKeymasterthere are some existing threads on the forum with info.
12/08/2015 at 21:04 in reply to: Neither keyboard or gamepad is working – stuck at welcome screen #111467petrockblogKeymasterCould be a power issue yep – Please try another USB power cable, combined with the ipad charger (which should be 2.1a or so).
12/08/2015 at 19:55 in reply to: Neither keyboard or gamepad is working – stuck at welcome screen #111463petrockblogKeymasterWhen you say you tried different chargers, did you use the same USB cable or have tried different cables?
12/08/2015 at 19:54 in reply to: Neither keyboard or gamepad is working – stuck at welcome screen #111462petrockblogKeymasterSounds like a problem with your setup. if you press f4, and drop to a terminal (you will need to press another key) can you type on the keyboard ?
are you using any hub or anything ? Which controller are you using ? Can you confirm the controller works on another machine
12/08/2015 at 15:06 in reply to: Neither keyboard or gamepad is working – stuck at welcome screen #111451petrockblogKeymasterAnd you are definitely holding down a button on one of the devices? (obvious question, but just to check).
12/08/2015 at 15:04 in reply to: Neither keyboard or gamepad is working – stuck at welcome screen #111450petrockblogKeymasterWhat PSU do you have ? Does it help if you have only one of the devices connected ?
petrockblogKeymasteryeh – just like that.
petrockblogKeymasteromxplayer handles most stuff I have thrown at it. MP4 is a container though, so it depends on the codec etc.
12/07/2015 at 20:01 in reply to: i've installed retropie 3.2.1 for pi2 but don't find how to setup the controller #111417petrockblogKeymasteryou can reconfigure it from the “start menu”. if you are unable to navigate, you could unplug the controller, and it should prompt and you could use a keyboard, or alternatively go to retropie-setup and choose to re-install emulationstation from binary which will reset the config.
petrockblogKeymasterif it skips to next button due to controller sensitivity, when you get to “ok” you can go up and correct the bad inputs without starting from scratch.
