Oh cool, thanks floob! Just to be sure, I make the changes to the retroarch.cfg of the specific emulator I want, not the main config, right? It seems stupid, but I feel like everything I do has an unintended consequence haha.
Another question: i’ve enabled video_smooth=true in the main retroarch.cfg. However, some emulators, like snes, have video_smooth=false in their retroarch.cfg. If I understand correctly, this overrides the main config file. Why would those be in there if I’ve never set them to be? This is what my retroarch.cfg looks like:
# Smoothens picture with bilinear filtering. Should be disabled if using pixel shaders. video_smooth = true
I set it to what I want (true from false) and then delete the #, right? I ask because some things in the config have no # and some do, and some have the # then nothing after =, etc. Just kinda confusing. Sorry for all the quetions!
narpParticipantYou are freaking amazing dude! Thanks. You’re like an encyclopedia of raspberry pi haha.
narpParticipantHmm…in that case, I might as well just set it up the way you said. I figured doing that would use more resources than going through wicd curses. Guess I was wrong. Now to see how to turn off wicd curses. ;) Thanks a lot–your videos are immensely helpful btw.
narpParticipantThat actually does work, I’ve used it in the past! I just freshly reimaged and thought it’d be cool to use th wicd curses. Thanks.

07/21/2015 at 21:08 in reply to: Updated to RP 3 RC 1 and now the x-axis of my left ps3 joystick wont work #102471narpParticipantThis is such a bummer, makes some games completely unplayable. Sorry to hear you have the same issue, please let me know if you resolve it! Apparently there is a debug code you can run, which I intend to do when I get some time.
narpParticipantUpdated to RC 1 from beta 4 and initially it wouldnt save my controller config (kept asking me to input it every time I restarted). That finally saved, but the x-axis (l/r) of my left ps3 joystick doesnt work (since i updated). Also, select+triangle doesnt bring up the menu.
narpParticipantOh that’s interesting, thanks! So would it be better to have the TV upscale or to have it render and output at the resolution I want?
narpParticipantWow, thanks for the reply, and you weren’t kidding…the shaders absolutely destroyed the frame rate and didn’t seem to do much as far as improving image quality. I missed the shaders the first time around because I didnt know you have to select them, I was trying to scroll l/r through them heh. So far I’ve heard no distortion with the enable enhanced resolution settings, but I’ll be sure to keep an ear out.
I wonder if any of the shaders actually do improve graphics but not mess up the frame rate; I didn’t get a lot of time to test them. I’ll test out the speed hack as well, but that seemed to make no difference as far as I could tell for the short amount of time I had it enabled.
I also have my TV upscaling the image. I couldnt tell a difference when I had it natively output 1080p vs just having it upscaled, so I dunno. Thanks for the ideas!
narpParticipantAh, awesome, thanks a ton! I tried right clicking on the file itself but that obviously wouldnt save as a text file. Never thought of right clicking on the raw button! Thanks!
narpParticipantWow, thanks a lot! How do I save the files directly from the github site? As it is, I copy all the text and then make it into a .cht file. Also, when I click on a cheat, it says ‘input cheat’ and then freezes the menu. Works fine if I just turn them on, which is great, but figured I’d ask what that’s all about. Thanks again!

narpParticipantThank you! I figured out that you can’t put only save configuration on exit; you also have to enable per core settings or something. Wonder what the deal is with that!
narpParticipantI added in the lines and it worked, thanks! However, there are a couple games that just dont work. For example, crash bandicoot and metal slug x just wont recognize buttons without the d pad. Can I somehow enable it for those games?
06/17/2015 at 22:16 in reply to: Paired PS3 controller, moved BT dongle to another slot, wont pair anymore #100019narpParticipantEr, I seem to have gotten it to work again so maybe I should close this thread? I’m not sure if that’s possible, so maybe just no more replies or anything would work.
narpParticipantOh cool, thanks! Would it just not use the .cue files? Or use them but ignore them? Reason I ask is because apparently some of them have useful info about the tracks. I went ahead and deleted the files that had no track information, but a couple of them actually do have some stuff in there.
narpParticipantGithub says only .bin .cue .img and .mdf file types are accepted though. :/
narpParticipantThank you! My card was a slightly different version of that, it appears. Didn’t appear in one of the steps so I tried your other link. Method #3 didnt work as shown, so I googled and found your video and that slightly modified one worked better. You and your videos are great, ty!
