I was able to reproduce this issue.
1. I put 2.5 on and the video worked correctly when exiting Emulationstation.
2. I then updated the RetroPie-Setup Script and the video worked correctly when exiting Emulationstation.
3. I then ran the Binary-based installation (recommended) and when I exit Emulationstation I now get the display issue…muldoonParticipantI was able to put 2.5 on and get it working. When I exit emulationstation, after playing a game, it does not have any display issue.
Tomorrow I can upgrade it to the latest version and see if the display issue happens.

Thanks Floob.[/quote]
I think I spoke too soon… I have the Raspberry 2. When I put the 2.3 image on the SD card and boot, I just get a black screen. I’m still 99.9% positive that an earlier version, possibly 2.4?, did not give me any display issues with my rotate screen.
muldoonParticipantPerfect!
Thanks Floob.muldoonParticipantI also tried allocating 32/128/256 instead of 64M in rasp0config; but I still get the same display issue.
muldoonParticipantAfter many, many hours of fruitless searching, I decided to comment out the rotation of the screen from the setting of display_rotate=3 . Lo and behold, I can now play games and when I exit out of them the screen is not all jacked up! :) I can even type startx and it is correct.
The odd thing is, this did work correctly when the screen was rotated, but then stopped working after I upgraded using the script.
So now my question is; is there another way to rotate the screen so the video is correct in the cabinet?
muldoonParticipantThanks for the response!
I was doing some more searching and found that since it is an experimental build that it had to be build it… Here is the link
I really don’t want to have to start over and reinstall, so hopefully this will work.
muldoonParticipantWere you able to get this working? I have the same issue.
I’ve tried adding a section in ~/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg and adding folder in /retropie/configs, but no luck so far …
muldoonParticipantDoes anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
muldoonParticipantIn my es_input.cfg file in /home/pi/.emulationstation, I tried some different combinations of the following where mouse is replaced with track, trackball, and the deviceGUID of 0 and1, but still can’t get mame to detect it.
In advancemame, the trackball does work, but the game doesn’t… :)
<inputConfig type=”mouse” deviceName=”mouse” deviceGUID=”1″>
<input name=”Track X” type=”key” id=”0″ value=”0″ />
<input name=”Track Y” type=”key” id=”222″ value=”0″ />
</inputConfig>
`muldoonParticipantI found the download link :)
muldoonParticipantThanks guys. I’ll look into it tonight as I’m currently debating if I want to return my B+ 1.0 for the new 2.0 B.
muldoonParticipantA video would be awesome!
muldoonParticipantI don’t think I’m using (or trying to use) FBA. I think it may because I read a post where you could use 0.14 instead of 0.37b5….. But I’m quite new, so I may be way off base.
I tried using the 0.37b5 exe to create a dat file, but when I try to use it I get an error stating that I need a 32-bit version. I have CLRMAAME and ROMCenter on Windows7 64. With the 0.14 I can create the dat file, but I can’t fix the file.
muldoonParticipantThe clrmamepro program fixed it!
Thanks!
muldoonParticipantThanks. I’ll take a look into clrmamepro.
I’m currently using a fresh install of RetroPieImage_ver2.3. I tried the newer RetroPieImage_ver2.4 version, but it doesn’t have the GUI for startx… I’ll see about updating from 2.3 to 2.4.
