labelwhoreParticipant
This ended up working for me. But don’t copy and paste, type these values in.
labelwhoreParticipantI just got done running your script. (I haven’t tried the games just yet.) One of my games caused an error. “Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis – The Graphic Adventure” has 11 disks, the number of which seemed to screw up the python script. I got rid of that game and moved on for now.
labelwhoreParticipantI gave up on lr-fba for now, but I did get the latest revision of coolcv to work. Here’s the instructions I basically followed (ignore the attachment here):
The latest revision is attached to the first post in that thread.
http://atariage.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=422702
I’m using an xbox360 controller and the controls are a bit laggy, but seem to work.
Edit: just to give you a few more details; I’m running retropie 3.3 Jessie. When I ran the install instructions, I ran them as is and got a couple errors. I ignored the errors and moved on to the next steps. They didn’t seem to make any difference. I’m somewhat of a linux noob, but it seemed to me that they were more like warnings, than actual errors.
I went ahead and followed the normal retropie folder structure and placed coolcv_pi in a new folder ‘/opt/retropie/emulators/coolcv’. I didn’t need to build anything, I just copied it over to the pi.
I’ve only tried a handful of games so far, but it seems that I can start some, but have trouble with others. I still need a keyboard to start a lot of games, and the one I’m using does not have a number pad. I can start a handful of roms just from the controller though. I’d expect that future revisions will only work better.
labelwhoreParticipantI can confirm that .dat seems to work in clrmamepro,
but I just don’t have the correct romset for it.I found the right rom set, and was able to rebuild it with clrmamepro, but I’m still seeing the same behavior as above. It looks like the rom is going to launch, then back to ES. No errors in runcommand.log.
labelwhoreParticipantIf only we could PMs, lol I really want that rom set.
labelwhoreParticipantKeep that set, there’s just one file missing. Just look for the missing filename from the .dat via google. That’s where I got it.
The missing file appears to be for some sort of cartridge adapter. It didn’t solve anything for me, but it sounds like you have a few more good roms than I do.
labelwhoreParticipantMaybe I just haven’t run into that yet. I just recently added videopac/odyssey as well.
labelwhoreParticipantIt should work using the same controls as the other libretro emulators.
labelwhoreParticipantlabelwhoreParticipantSame thing happens here. I do have the .zip bios with the 4 files in it as the dat shows, but no roms split into multpile files. Only the .col files.
I did try splitting 2010 into multpile 8k chunks an renaming them according the what’s in the .dat, but still no love. There’s probably something else that was changed when they were spliced together.
I scoured the web looking for roms with a different format, I did find some ending in .bin. Those didn’t work as is or zipped for me either. If anyone knows how to break these files down correctly into the right sized chunks so that they’ll work, I’m all ears.
labelwhoreParticipantWell, from everything I’ve read, running CollecoVision roms in lr-fba SHOULD be possible. I haven’t got it to work. I think I have the right bios, but I’m not sure bout my roms. From the .dat file I found, there should be files with extentions like .1, .2, .3, and .4 in .zip files. Whereas, all I have are .col. I tried zipping those up, but no dice.
I have a hunch that the .col files are just the .1, .2 etc. combined into one file.
labelwhoreParticipantidk if possibly the ps3 controller might work in a similar way to the xbox360 controller; by using the hex values instead of the “normal” values. I’d assume they wouldn’t be the same, however.
labelwhoreParticipantthere are no controls at all mapped for Dpad 2 in what you posted. You say it works in some games? I don’t see how it could ever work with those settings.
labelwhoreParticipantHave you tried reinstalling the emulator from retropie_setup? It’s a shot in the dark, because that all looks correct to me.
labelwhoreParticipantI’ve just assumed that it’s the variable that’s needed for the runcommand script to determine which system to use for the chosen rom.
labelwhoreParticipantHave you tried just commenting this section out? it seems like it may disable that message completely, but it’s a start.
# check for x/m key pressed to choose a screenmode (x included as it is useful on the picade) clear echo "Press a key (or joypad button 0) to configure launch options for emulator/port ($emulator). Errors will be logged to /tmp/runcommand.log" IFS= read -s -t 1 -N 1 key </dev/tty if [[ -n "$key" ]]; then get_all_modes main_menu dont_launch=$? clear fi
labelwhoreParticipantWow, cool! Thanks for the info Herb. I’m gonna try out FBA with Colecovision roms tonight.

labelwhoreParticipantI haven’t been able to get any EBOOT games to work so far. I’ve tried about 4 so far. I always get a file corrupt message in PPSSPP. I’m gonna keep trying though.
This is what PPSSPP.org says, so maybe some will work:
If you have digital downloads on your PSP, they can be used directly on PPSSPP. Just copy the EBOOT.PBP over. Note that this has not been tested as much as ISO loading so there may still be issues with some games.
labelwhoreParticipantWhy not just take a look at es_input.cfg, then swap them in retroarch.cfg for the snes emulator? I’ve been able to get by without ever running jstest. IDK if it’s actually working for me on 3.3, but I seem to remember having issues with jstest on 2.6.
labelwhoreParticipantYou don’t really need to start without the KB the first time, I never do. I just installed 3.3 on Jessie the other day. The first thing I did was start up with a controller connected, and ran through the initial controller setup, then immediately run raspi-config to expand the available space on the SD card, then run retropie-setup to update the setup script, then install xboxdrv and restart. Then configure the controller again. That’s it.
labelwhoreParticipantThere are two options: CoolCV and Colem. I’ve read that a couple people have got them working, but I think controller implementation is not an easy task. Feel free to give those a shot.
labelwhoreParticipantYou should just be able to hit X or M before the emulator starts. I switched from lr-PPSSPP to the standalone PPSSPP, which seems to work a bit better than the default one.
Idk the answer to your other question, since I just started playing with these emulators.
labelwhoreParticipantI tried out .hack/link last night and it worked perfectly. So as soon as I have some time, I’ll start contributing to the compatibility list as well.
labelwhoreParticipantI’ve never seen that issue before. Did you start from one of the images on this site? or did you start from noobs then install retropie on top of that?
if it was the latter, maybe try from a fresh image from this site.
labelwhoreParticipantWhere is the list you’re referring to? I’d like to use it to find some good roms to test out. I just randomly picked a few.nvm, I found it on the wiki
labelwhoreParticipantI think one of the roms I tried was Soulcaliber: Broken Destiny. The menu ran more or less perfectly, but as soon as I got into actual gameplay, it slowed way down and audio was extremely choppy.
I’m on raspbian Jessie with retropie 3.3.
labelwhoreParticipant
Full speed? Yes, it works fine for me. I’m running recommended default settings with heatsinks installed.
Who do I message to add the games to the list. I’m checking a few each week.
Did you have to change any settings at all? I just installed the emulator from the setup script and tried a few roms, no customization.if you changed any configs, could you share them here?
labelwhoreParticipantI don’t think you’re done setting things up. It sounds like you installed the driver, but it is not actually running without further changes. See this page:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Setting-up-the-XBox360-controller
Although, if you use the option in retropie_setup to install xboxdrv, it does everything on that page automatically for you.
labelwhoreParticipantHave you got any to run at full speed? The few I’ve tried all ran like crap once I got into the actual gameplay. I have a Pi 2 and tried both the liberto version and the standalone version.
labelwhoreParticipantIt would be amazing if we could somehow display the achievement info from that site within ES.
labelwhoreParticipant

mess is a configuration nightmare. outside of the colecovision (which hopefully in the future will be supported with lr-bluemsx) which systems would it offer that retropie doesn’t already have?
Wouldn’t MESS allow 5200 roms to be handled in a cleaner way than Atari 800?
I have yet to configure any emu for the 5200 set so I’m just referencing the wiki’s instructions for running 5200 roms via Atari 800. It seems that you cannot use the 5200 theme in ES to load the roms directly? They have to be launched from the 800 menu? Doesn’t the 800 lack joystick/gamepad support as well?
Yes to all 3 questions.labelwhoreParticipant
How come after setting up the time and date in the vmu, it resets on each boot?
^^ seriously, this. I don’t remember this happening on my 2.6 image, but now on 3.3 I have to set the time and date every time I start a game.labelwhoreParticipant
So i was wondering if there is some rompacks tested and running w/ retropie 3.3 or older versions.
Yes. lol ;)
labelwhoreParticipantI’m not really sure what happened, maybe a hidden character because I edited the file in windows. The settings shown in my post above are what eventually worked.
I tried changing the value for the start button to 0x139, which didn’t work. I then tried simply swapping start and select, and suddenly both worked, so I changed them back to what they were originally and now everything works.
labelwhoreParticipantIt’s not, assuming you do it that way.
