Participantim not using a snes, i am building a table, but the theory should be the same.

ParticipantI just cut the power line on my usb cable and added a switch to it..still need to shutdown cleaning in Emulation Station, but can cut power to the pi no problems after..just do that and wire it to the snes power button…
karloss
Participantthere are 3 snes emulators installed with the script, try one of the others.

ParticipantI had loads of issues when using berryboot, in the end i just “moved” my install to a 128gb usb key and all works without issues…
the biggest issue with berryboot is that you are unable to properly overclock the install/device as berryboot handles it and you can’t edit the “config.txt” specificity for that installl…

Participanti think its something along the lines of “quitting properly”, esp between reboots, if you don’t “shutdown” you loose your save, I believe..
karloss
ParticipantNot to sure on saves, I was trying to work this out myself…
PSX games have to be in bin format, I ripped mine using imgburn..
karloss
ParticipantNeo-Geo requires all bios files.
I suggest re-installing…

ParticipantI assume you are using RCA,
“Also, PetRockBlog recently added a feature for changing the HDMI resolution when starting Retro-Arch based systems. This seems to interfere with video working properly on composite screens. To disable it, you need to edit the ~/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg file. Change the line:
COMMAND=$rootdir/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 1 “retroarch -…
to:
COMMAND=$rootdir/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 2 “retroarch -…”

Participantget yourself some little heatsinks for your chips, you can get on ebay well cheap..and make sure your using a powered usb hub, esp if you are using the 360 controller, I find that consumes more power than my generic lookeylikey.

Participantthis has been discussed loads mate…

so for every emulator, cange the 1 to a 2.. and it will work.

Participanthave a look at overclocking and using my settings, I can play Metal Gear Solid without any issues the only game i have issues with, strangely, is Destruction Derby 1 and 2…

Participantburnt the 1.6.1 image to sdcard last night, added streets of rage 2 rom, and worked with dgen no issues atall, over hdmi, composite still doesn’t work ;(
karloss
ParticipantHey mate, are you running overclocked?
are you using a powered usb hub?
are you using an sdimage? 1.5 or 1.6.1? or you build from source?
karloss
ParticipantHey mate, with these settings I have no crashes, I believe the overvolt makes the difference..
karloss
Participantrun the retropie script, and selete setup, then disable emulationstation on boot option.
karloss
Participantyour not by anychance using composite output and haven’t made the changes to get video by changing the runcommands to a 2 instead of 1? also dgen doesn’t work over composite..

Participantthis table is beautiful…

Participantwell, there are no good “legal” roms…
most roms now are so old that they are almost classed as abandon-ware, so your probably be ok, it all depends on your countries copyright laws, but anything before nes/master system and upto PSX, you will find very unlikely that anyone will try and prosecute you for having them..
I am not telling you to go and do it, but im just saying, its your choice, but your pretty safe..

ParticipantHey mate, I think a powered Hub is the answer, I can confirm myself that the 1.5 image + xboxdr works fine, as that is what i used, though i did find that the xbox remote needs powered hub, other controls don’t so its just a 360 remote issue..
karloss
ParticipantMaybe have a try running the RetroPie script and doing a source install of DGEN see if it fixes it? I used 1.5 with as a base and have done a couple of updates this wa and all seems to be working fine…
going to try the 1.6.1 base tonight

ParticipantThere is a google spreadsheet I have seen floating about, that I added to, with working roms and such, i will see if i can find it and will post a link..

Participantyou can update by running the RetroPie script and doing a Source install of the sega master system emulator..
karloss
Participanti just used imgburn to create a bin of the discs and they work fine :)
i haven’t found a “perfect” source, matey needs to enable PM’s on this forum, maybe I could help you then ;)

ParticipantHey Jon,
I have my Pi overclocked at 1050mhz, will post my settings later.
I used one of these for the sound – 3.5mm Switched Socket I used a phono extender form the pi and cut the other end off, wired that to this jack, and also my speakers to this jack, so when unplugged it goes to speakers, when headphones plugged, it goes to them..
for the HDMI, I used this Here it allows mounting on the outside of the table and plugging into the Pi, so if my HDMI is plugged in and I turn on Pi, it will goto HDMI, if I unplug, it will goto the two internal screens.
hope that helps

ParticipantHey mate, I have probably 98% perfect psx playback, will share my config.txt file as I have overclocked core/gpu/arm and orvervolted as well..
karloss
ParticipantHey Guys,
I have started to write up a blog post about my RetroTable, you can read the first post
Let me know what you think, I do plan to do some more posts about my Pi’s configuration in relation to Overclocking and stuff (what are your overclock settings?)
As I have said, Its not finished yet..
Let me know what you think.

Participantsuper mario all stars (i assume thats what your playing) switches over and wants you to use control 2 after getting to the world map, for some reason..
karloss
Participanthey,
I put mine in RetroArch/emulatorcores/(then psx-rearmed folder I think)
I had alot of trouble, and found that it turned to be the images I was using, maybe try another one from another site, or backup your own, I have a number of my own backups working fine on it.
karloss
ParticipantHey Jon, they are up on flickr, just not ready to share them all yet :) its not fully finished, and I don’t wanna show off until it is…
Thinking of making a build log, kinda should have done it at the start really though…
karloss
Participanti can save on psx without issue, been playing and saving Metal Gear Solid, worked so far…
karloss
Participantif u haven’t run es scraper for it to go and grab the info/pics, the list is centred…im very close to my table being finished…will post up some pics soon..
karloss
ParticipantHey Raygan Kelly,
I followed your steps, and didn’t seem to have any errors, but I still just get a black screen when trying to run my MD roms :(
karloss
ParticipantI believe RetroPie has variable resolution (check the retropieconfig script)..
but remember you are using a Standard Def 10/15 year old console, emulated, and stretched in HD resolution..its never going to look that good….
