InsecureSpikeParticipant
try using FBA much better neo geo emulation mate, put all roms in that folder with bios, and all should be sweet!
InsecureSpikeParticipantwhat emulator you trying to run them on?
InsecureSpikeParticipantjust for a little guidance, try to have 1 universal background, then in each sub folder don’t use a whole back ground try n use an area of the background you wanna use the logo you wanna use for that particular system
if that makes any sen
InsecureSpikeParticipantwhat Pi you using? B+ or 2?
as i think this’ll make quite a bit of difference, as i have a complete theme ready to be released, but its very much a stripped down theme!
now mine is based on a B+ and i have 49 folders all working perfectly (i have that many as i have split most systems up by region) by the looks of it you have lots going on in those theme folders, for a B+ theme, but it should work no problem on a rpi2,i suggest take what you have but build it again, from scratch or just update it to be used out of the box for retropie, don’t test on other systems, just test on your Pi, as i think you may need to resize some things
but i’m not too sure if ill release it as an updated emulation station should be on its way….
InsecureSpikeParticipantI agree totally with raymate here! as we will probably not be the only ones needing help on this feature, maybe someone could write a nice, understandable step by step guide on updating via command line

1: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y
2: cd RetroPie-Setup
3: sudo ./retropie_setup.sh
4: update setup script
this is how i do itWhen I try to update from 2.4 to 2.6, I tried the quote above. But I get this message back: “Fetched the latest version of the RetroPie Setup script. You need to restart the script”. I then press OK, Cancel, and run sudo ./retropie_setup.sh again with the same message. What am I doing wrong?
Also, is there a way or a syntax to check which RetroPie version I’ve got?
Agree a simple line to enter to show us what we are running.
I can understand this project is rather complex the team is basically pulling in different emulators from different sources and some stuff maybe out of there control.
But something we can enter that shows us all the current live emulators and the respective version would be great.
Or some sort of gui for the updating stuff would be nice.
Sometimes I feel it’s just easier to setup fresh and add the roms again

InsecureSpikeParticipantInsecureSpikeParticipantwow, and this is how to update say from 2.5 – 2.6?
if correct this is great! I’ve been updating the same way as “raymate” for around a year haha, also then how do we tell what version/build number I’m on?
thanksInsecureSpikeParticipantlook here for Florians, RetroPie .img’s
https://www.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/download-category/retropie-project/
InsecureSpikeParticipantawesome thanks, buzz
InsecureSpikeParticipantno probs, i’m starting with a clean install and ill go from there
thanks for the help guys
InsecureSpikeParticipantoh no!
i did..
sudo chmod 777 -R /home/pi/Retropie/roms
and it sent my boot up into an “emulation station boot screen” loop lol
InsecureSpikeParticipantthat’s awesome! thanks fella! I’ll try this when I get home
InsecureSpikeParticipantok, so what command do I need to set the rom folder home/pi/RetroPi/roms to 777?
thanks in advance
InsecureSpikeParticipantok, thanks for the reply,
what should the permissions be?
if the permissions are wrong, is there no way of edition them to correct them?
InsecureSpikeParticipantthere is an “experimental packages” option in the retropie set up, Nestopia is available to install via there
InsecureSpikeParticipantthis may be a silly question,
but have you add any roms to the psx rom folder?
as if not it won’t show until you do!InsecureSpikeParticipantyup this works perfect now, i found this this out too, thanks guys!
InsecureSpikeParticipantguys, is the 32x running any better?
InsecureSpikeParticipanti think i’m gonna get one!
its gotta be a bonus to run retropie on it even if n64 don’t still run…InsecureSpikeParticipantthats great thanks guy’s!
InsecureSpikeParticipantworks fine for me
InsecureSpikeParticipantawesome! thanks nils
InsecureSpikeParticipantwhich way worked for you, mate
InsecureSpikeParticipantnone of the old themes work, I have a few themes on the go currently, 3 of my own and the remix of Florian’s, but sorry to say they will appear when ready, sorry, I can’t be anymore help
InsecureSpikeParticipantif you have a mac, I very much suggest ApplePi-Baker, it’s awesome an every fast! here’s the link
InsecureSpikeParticipantvery nice work fella!!
InsecureSpikeParticipanthey sorry, thought I’d replied, here ya go….
/opt/retropie/emulators/mame4all-pi/roms/InsecureSpikeParticipantpossibly no one has the answers?
InsecureSpikeParticipantwhat folder are you dropping them in?
InsecureSpikeParticipantI understood very little of that post! but I’m thinking it’s because I’m still a novice, I’ll re read it later,
InsecureSpikeParticipantI at the moment have a fan running net to mine, after the corruption I had within the first few days, which shot my usb drive, it now has heat sinks and I’m still terrified lol, it wasn’t even over clocked, but I’m gonna mount a fan or to in my case, oh I even had the case on with out it’s lid on haha,
InsecureSpikeParticipantas Trimmtrabb says, google mame 0.37b5,
also in my signature, is a link to the working roms listInsecureSpikeParticipantpersonally, it should stay as it is as Aloshe’s put in a big heap of work to this project, and having the splash and accepting it is giving him the credit he deserves! and you too Nils! great work guys!
thanksedit: or, if it must be changed, here’s a thought, is there any way for the user to select any image, but somehow with the logo actually being automatically added or having the logo over-lay the custom image, not as large as the original maybe half the size, possibly center bottom area, so as the logo and text are always seen/used, but with a custom background, and still giving Aloshe and Nils the credit they deserve
just a thoughtInsecureSpikeParticipantI’ll try it out tomorro, but I’m guessing they’ll have to be small files
InsecureSpikeParticipantthats cool!
