Well it depends on the theme you are using. The default theme has no problems with all of the systems running on it. It’s only when you use other themes that have unique wallpapers that the system amount causes an issue.
02/25/2016 at 21:47 in reply to: How do I hide unused/unwanted systems in emulation station? #118140herbfargusMemberThere’s a built in file manager and if you’re comfortable with the terminal you can do it from that if you have a keyboard attached. It’s not that difficult with a little bit of googling.
02/25/2016 at 21:23 in reply to: POLL: Which default video mode do you prefer? (video_smooth on or off) #118126herbfargusMemberI think it depends on the system you’re using but especially for most of the older systems my vote is for
OFF
herbfargusMemberIt writes all your changes on shutdown like it should, where it would not before as there was a bug. If you’re a romhoarder then it will take significantly longer just because it’s writing all the changes for all the roms it’s just how emulationstation is coded. You can shut it down over ssh but it won’t save any changes (last played metadata etc.)
herbfargusMemberTry a different gba emulator
herbfargusMemberLikely something broke upstream. when posting logs please use a site like pastebin as slogging through logs on the forum is rather onerous.
herbfargusMemberIt’s not the emulation. It’s the processing power. So short answer: no
herbfargusMemberUpdate your setup script
And your uninstall option will be there.
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie
Make a backup first as you may have problems as the uninstall feature is still a bit Experimental.
You can manually install things but you have to know what you’re doing. Dont install from sourcw, use binaries. It’s easiest to do a full binary install and then remove the things you dont want manually. We’ll eventually integrate uninstalling pieces from the setup script but for now you just have to use the terminal or winscp as root.
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FAQ#why-cant-i-ssh-as-root-anymore
Here’s a page on manually installing parts of retropie:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Manual-Installation#partial-install
herbfargusMemberThe RetroPie community is very much a DIY learn it yourself kind of community so I doubt that any of the users will help you cheat on your assignment as I’m guessing your professor intended you to do the assignment on your own rather than having a random person on the internet do it for you.
It’s also a very edge use case so I doubt that anyone has done it or even tried to unless they built some bootlegged retropie in their bar and hooked it up so people could put in coins and play games for an illegal profit.
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberI already petitioned gamemaker-games and they were against the idea of scripting it unfortunately. Ive included a module script for reference on the ports page of the wiki for those who want to do it manually.
Perhaps webfoot games would be more amicable to the idea of including it in the retropie script. (20000+ users with access to their games doesn’t sound like a bad proposition to me)
A list of games would be a good idea. Most of the problems with pi based games seems to be they either need X or a keyboard and mouse.
It would be cool to make a pi based game menu for things like webfoot games and apt-games. But I doubt we will get to anything like that anytime soon as there are other priorities at the moment. It also depends on distribution rights etc.

herbfargusMemberInstall the xboxdrv driver

herbfargusMemberShould have just been added:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/1275
Update your setup script and reinstall xboxdrv
herbfargusMemberNone of the devs have the board and it uses a janky allwinner chips with poor software support so best you’ll get is maybe retroarch on there.
You may find people in the pine community willing to work on it:
http://forum.pine64.org/archive/index.php?thread-41.html
Also you’re not the first person to ask:
herbfargusMemberI’ve heard of similar issues as well. It’s almost as if Microsoft doesn’t want people using their controllers for anything but the XBOX… actually very few controllers are ever designed for linux so we’ll always be running into these issues. so unless you find a way to downgrade the firmware on the controller (which I don’t know how that would be possible) you may just have to wait til xboxdrv is updated. I don’t have an xbox one controller so I could be totally wrong as well.
herbfargusMemberthen you need to rebuild them for the .037b5 set with clrmamepro
herbfargusMemberits actually
es_systems.cfg
Also I doubt it is a configuration issue with that, rather you likely put your roms in the wrong place or have the wrong romset.herbfargusMemberHave you rebuilt your roms with clrmamepro?
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
Also what version of retropie are you running?
02/17/2016 at 07:44 in reply to: (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc.) Anyone interested in Daphne laserdisc system? #117276herbfargusMemberController configs and commandline params should be sorted now:

https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commit/c32f9cd8f7f5b54dde2f4ea482372afaeabe3439
herbfargusMemberYeah idk, I just started from a fresh image and updated my setup script and did a full binary install. Both .94 and 1.4 are working fine for me.
02/17/2016 at 06:49 in reply to: (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc.) Anyone interested in Daphne laserdisc system? #117272herbfargusMemberCommand Line perametres are here:
/opt/retropie/emulators/daphne/daphne.sh
but as shown on the wiki https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Daphne you should in theory be able to specify command line perameters in a file called
dle21.commands
or equivalent02/17/2016 at 05:07 in reply to: (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc.) Anyone interested in Daphne laserdisc system? #117262herbfargusMemberI’m working on documentation right now:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Daphne
I haven’t tested dragons lair but I did get astron working. I don’t know how well it will work on a pi 1
herbfargusMemberhttps://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Duke-Nukem-3D
See the wiki as each port has its own page and each port has their own controller configurations (most use a keyboard and mouse). its possible that zdoom might have mouse support for doom (also may be a setting in retroarch configs for prboom)
The id software thing is just an indication we ship with shareware. users have to provide their own retail version of the game.
herbfargusMemberMouse aiming doesnt work on duke nukem. don’t know about doom
herbfargusMemberThings were recently updated. Try updating your setup script and reinstalling advame 1.4 from binary. Then see if they work from the arcade folder.
herbfargusMemberwhich folder are your roms in
herbfargusMemberRetroarch configs are set for the keyboard like they are joypads. so it would be your hotkey (i.e. select+X)
herbfargusMemberI find it annoying when people go to all the work to get something working on retropie and even blog about it but never think to add it to the source code. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and either attribute it to oversight or inexperience. Perhaps I need to do a better job on documentation of the scriptmodules.
Thanks for being proactive zerojay. It’s appreciated.
As an aside now that there is some support for x86, we’ll probably be adding the other libretrocores that we don’t currently have in the script in the future and use platform flags to restrict which systems they are installed on pending their performance.
herbfargusMemberIn the future we’re looking at adding a more module menu with removal options so that it actually removes the system completely rather than just hiding it like I show in the above video. Of course you can currently delete anything you want to manually from the terminal.
herbfargusMemberThese are the two main scripts that define those for the modules:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/helpers.sh
Those are very good questions. I do think scripting is somewhat lacking in the documentation though there is some documentation here:
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Shell-Style-Guide
I may be able to come up with more detailed explanations when I have more time, but a good way to figure out the scripts is to do what you’ve been doing, see how the current scripts work and then adapt them to your needs.
