Doesn’t really build on the pi without knowing what youre doing and takes at least 7 hours to compile, more meant for x86.
herbfargusMemberAdded a wiki page:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/GemRB
Far from complete but it’s a start.
Also added one for residualvm:
herbfargusMemberSselphs scraper matches based on hash data not necessarily the game title, but his database may not be complete
herbfargusMemberThere are a lot of the game engines that really just need a game selector in runcommand rather than being set as their own system but that needs some extra coding to fix.
herbfargusMemberIt’s kodi not openelec. If you want openelec settings use openelec. The wifi configured for the pi is the wifi configurations kodi uses.
herbfargusMemberCarbon is the default theme. And no this will not be fixed anytime soon.
herbfargusMemberDid you edit the cmdline.txt at all? I had to add fbcon10 or something like that
My notes for my build are on this page:https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/gamepi-zero-attachment-fileimage-jpeg/ may differ slightly from your hardware
herbfargusMemberI’ve had the same problems. the dev for that needs to write up some documentation on it, he just hasn’t gotten to it yet.. you can check the github commit history and there are some notes on it but MESS is very very picky about file paths and as you’ve seen it is experimental for a reason for the time being.
herbfargusMemberlogitech f310 works fine for me. on 3.5 currently. will be on 3.6 soon
herbfargusMemberDoes it show on the LCD when not plugged into HDMI? Might be a setting in config.txt that you can mess with. I think I did something with the HDMI configs but it was a long time ago so I don’t remember exactly.
herbfargusMemberFbcp
herbfargusMemberNone of the devs have one of those boards so I wouldn’t hold your breath especially considering the recent release of the pi 3
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberOdroid uses allwinner chips which are not known for their software support so you will run into problems. You can even run it on an x86 Debian based Linux computer if you want. But retropie was originally designed for the pi and you’ll get the best support with that.
herbfargusMemberI think there is a possibility with it for MESS maybe
herbfargusMemberSounds like we need to get in with the raspberry pi foundation and get on their testing board list for the next raspberry pi release.
02/28/2016 at 00:29 in reply to: SUGGESTION: attact-mode front-end as an alternative to emulationstation #118388herbfargusMembertried it last night and failed miserably. its not worth the effort to me atm
02/27/2016 at 06:26 in reply to: SUGGESTION: attact-mode front-end as an alternative to emulationstation #118330herbfargusMemberI’ve ammended the wiki (jessie page) added a few dependencies, and some notes at the end for RetroPie specific installs.
see here:
I don’t like that it needs x so I don’t know how likely it will be to be included as part of retropie but its at least there to play with.
herbfargusMemberMuch appreciated. great work :)
herbfargusMemberCan confirm minecraft is fixed. haven’t tested ags but I would assume that is functioning too.
I did have to run
sudo dpkg-reconfigure x11-common
and set it to anyone.
I know its bad practice to have sudo in the start script, is there a way to automate the aformentioned line of code or something when a user installs minecraft or ags from the experimental script just so people don’t think they are broken? I’ve added the aforementioned line to the wiki of course, but as we know few people actually rtfm.
herbfargusMemberThere might be a similar problem with minecraft
herbfargusMemberMine is usually higher than that and I’ve had no problems.
02/26/2016 at 21:56 in reply to: How do I hide unused/unwanted systems in emulation station? #118293herbfargusMemberIt’s also in the documentation:
herbfargusMemberCode 4 almost always means not enough disk space. You can have a large card but not have the space expanded. Retropie 3.5 should expand automatically but previous versions you had to expand your filesystem with the sudo raspi-config menu. Try that and see if it makes a difference.
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Manual-Installation#expand-file-system
Possible you also have a bad SD card but the lack of space is more likely.
herbfargusMemberI’ve posted an official ticket on github here:
https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/issues/34
Just gives an official place for discussion and testing on the aformentioned issues.
herbfargusMemberIt’s a fundamental issue of the coding at this point. There is a simple workaround where we could add another shutdown option in emulationstation like a quick shutdown that doesn’t save metadata but of course that really isn’t a solution, rather if anything it would just make the menu more confusing.
herbfargusMemberI don’t have the time currently with uni for any testing but I’d be interested in seeing results with the sqlite branch (especially as you have a large collection of roms) in comparison to what we have now.
herbfargusMemberPolicy is we don’t really want to maintain emulationstation with everything else as we still have hopes it will be picked up upstream.
We already have a branch that is built off of sqlite but the jury is still out on the benefits of it- it would require lots of testing and discussion for us to determine it is a viable enough improvement for us to make that change.
herbfargusMemberNot without some hardcore hardware skills, coding experience on the pi and a recoding of the n64 emulator
02/25/2016 at 22:15 in reply to: How do I hide unused/unwanted systems in emulation station? #118153herbfargusMemberWell that’s the pixel theme ;) rookervik did a really good job of optimising that. try tronkyfran and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s a fundamental issue with emulationstation we have had to work around that I doubt will be fixed anytime soon.
