This is what’s showing in option 5 on my setup script but its only on the rpi2:

You can configure the controller in gpsp by pressing F10 while in game.
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Game-Boy-Advance
Outside of that I’m not sure how to help. (A raspberry pi 2 is a good investment)
herbfargusMember… Oh my bad. I take it you’re on a rpi1? It may only be on the rpi2. I apologise for making that assumption. I take it lr-vba-next is also not on your list?
herbfargusMemberIts been moved to stable
herbfargusMemberWell the retropie project for one… Emulationstation… Probably the 3d printed case… Retroarch… A few emulators that are against the licenses to sell: Genesis plus gx, mame…
herbfargusMemberNot a stupid question- you’re just still learning :) see this video:
herbfargusMemberHave you tried lr-mgba?
herbfargusMemberTry the options on this post:
http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Troubleshooting#Sound_does_not_work_with_an_HDMI_monitor
herbfargusMemberWell the emulationstation theme needs .wave files added in order for it to have sound but it would be easier for you to just download another theme with it already in the setup script. But if sound isn’t working on anything then you should probably address that first before you worry about theming. What are the details of your setup? And what have you tried so far to get sound to work?
herbfargusMemberThe default emulationstation theme has no sound.
herbfargusMemberVnc works for some things like lxde but doesn’t work for emulationstation Or the emulators. If you’re just looking to capture the video you’ll need a capture card if you’re looking to play remotely I don’t know of any way to do that.
herbfargusMemberMake a backup first just in case with something like win32diskimager.
See this video on updating/installing things from the setup script:
herbfargusMemberlr-snes9x-next had some bugs but they were fixed- just need to update the setup script and reinstall from binaries. but I still don’t know about support for super mario all stars as that has always had issues.
herbfargusMemberMaybe your ROM is bad. Might be better finding a new source. Try it with different emulators and see if the result is the same.
herbfargusMemberHave you tried Ctrl+q? The default emulator I believe is lr-stella which uses retroarch configs so default hotkeys to exit are select+start. See this page:
herbfargusMemberin /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/emulationstation.sh
remove these lines:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/68ed50d5362677e75cff5a31c35dd30b722f0da0/scriptmodules/supplementary/emulationstation.sh#L78-L82then save your edits and then reinstall emulationstation from the setup script- then it should go away.
It is also possible it may just work without a reinstall but I’m not sure about that.
herbfargusMemberJust format it with SD formatter or you can just overwrite it with win32diskimager- it won’t show the full SD size because Linux is a different file system windows can’t read, so don’t worry that its 56MB as win32diskimager will overwrite it anyhow.
See this post as it sounds like a similar issue:
And you can follow this guide installing the SD image i followed it to install it on my pi and it worked fine:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation
herbfargusMemberIts possible its corrupting on the download, some people have had similar issues. You can try downloading it with a torrent client like bittorrent or downloading it again directly. After extraction it should be about 2GB
herbfargusMemberHow are you formatting/ installing? I usually use SD formatter to format and win32diskimager to write the ad image.
herbfargusMemberhttps://m.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/comments/1mxq4d/nexxtech_class_10_8_gb_sd_card/
Its possible your SD card isn’t supported. I use a sandisk ultra microsd myself and have had no problems.
You can also just start with a fresh SD image and remove the emulators you don’t want from the /opt folder with sudo rm -R /theemulatoryoudontwant
I find starting with the SD image easiest. You may want to test with another SD card if at all possible just to narrow that down as the issue.
herbfargusMemberHow many systems/ ROMs are you running and which theme are you using? Its likely you just have too many things running. Either increase your GPU memory split or reduce the amount of roms/systems.
herbfargusMemberEveryone else seems to not have a problem setting it up. Sure each new version will have bugs, but 3.0 is far better than anything we’ve had in the past.
Follow this guide and you’ll be fine:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation
There was also a bug with the SNES emulator but you can easily reinstall it from the setup script (make sure you update your setup script first)
Any of the other issues you may come up with are likely answered elsewhere on this forum.
herbfargusMemberYou can just reinstall it from the retropie setup script under option 3 I believe. Just be sure to update your setup script first.
herbfargusMemberYour best bet is to just install the SD image provided on the site and follow the instructions
https://www.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/
Its much easier than a manual install.
You can tell which version of pi you have by the amount of raspberries you see as it boots. 1 raspberry=rpi1 4 raspberries=rpi2
herbfargusMemberhttps://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
Lists are all on the page as well as directions on how to get the ROMs to work.
herbfargusMemberHa ha you just don’t like the trademark violations :p but yes I think that’s a great idea. I could even make it 3d ish. I know you’re not a fan of the slogan idea so would you suggest I remove it or do you have a more fitting slogan?
herbfargusMemberThis is the one I use:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yinfnqgcodbiv4k/mushberryintro.mp4?dl=0
I made it in blender- there are a bunch of videos on YouTube that show you how to make quick intro videos with a template with blender (which is free to download) but there are plenty of other options too.
herbfargusMemberHas a power switch and a mic… But only 3 USB hubs. Looks very interesting. I don’t know if I’d trust it coming from china… But if you’re willing to drop $18 on it I’d be intrigued if it worked.
Likelihood is some of the drivers may not work as the processor is different and there may be some incompatibilities but I could be wrong.
herbfargusMemberThis video shows the conventional way of updating and installing emulators:
You can also change the default emulator by pressing js0 on your gamepad or any key on the keyboard as your ROM loads.
herbfargusMemberHave you tried this?:
herbfargusMemberhttps://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/946#issuecomment-130401096
Reinstall from binary and they should work. If there’s any confusion see this video:
herbfargusMemberHave you tried this?
herbfargusMemberHave you tried the magnet link/ torrenting it?
I had no problems downloading it, its possible your network may be the issue.
herbfargusMemberIf you are running retropie 3.0 you can press js0 or any button onna keyboard as your ROM loads and you can switch the default emulator from there.
herbfargusMemberFollow this guide and you should be fine.
