Sounds good to me
herbfargusMemberIt can be installed from the setup script as well- I fixed the issues that were causing it not to work. you just need to update your setup script first.
herbfargusMemberThe newest pi is a raspberry pi 2 so if the pi you currently own is not the latest rpi it is not a raspberry pi 2. It is likely a raspberry pi B+. Easiest way to check is to count the raspberries when the pi boots. If there is only one raspberry you do not have a raspberry pi 2 and therefore you need to install the raspberry pi 1 sd image.
This is clearly explained in the wiki:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation
herbfargusMemberYou installed the wrong sd image for your rpi.
Rpi1=1 raspberry on boot.
Rpi2= 4 raspberries on boot.
herbfargusMemberThat I can do :)
herbfargusMemberIdeally it would be best to have a complete set
(its a pet peeve of mine when someone says hey I have a theme! And then it has like 5 systems on it…)
But there’s no time constraints on it so whatever you’re comfortable with doing. All submissions are appreciated. I think the logo like you did on amstrad should suffice for the rest of the systems unless you’re really invested in 3d modelling stuff. (I figure as long as you’re consistent it should look fine) I’m not that great with Photoshop or illustrator but I can do the xml editing.
If you wanted I could set up a github repo and then I could add your submissions or I could add you as a collaborator and you can submit them there- then once it’s completed we can just clone it as its own repo in the retropie organisation and add it to the setup script so people can install it from the setup script.
herbfargusMemberThat looks real nice. I’d be happy to work with you on it: we could base it on the simple (default) theme- I could code a different colour scheme/font on the gamelist page as to make it distinguishable from the simple theme
(I’m currently working on another theme with rookervik so I have a pretty good idea of how to set up themes)
How many systems were you planning on making wallpapers for?
herbfargusMemberNbba theme has already been added: it can be installed from the setup script. Once it’s more complete we may look into making it the default.
As far as future updates its something we’ll look into but there are still a lot of changes in paths etc that make keeping it backwards compatible impractical.
In the future I’d personally like to simplify the first boot sequence where the user gets to choose the emulators they want rather than having a bunch of unwanted emulators by default.
Of course the main priority is to make sure the emulators are working and updated. Everything else is extra.
herbfargusMemberBrilliant mate- I’ll test it out from your repo once I get a chance- thanks for your work on the themes. I’ll be coming out with one that I and rookervik have worked on in the coming months.
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberYeah it’s too bad closed source stuff is closed source ha ha. I’ve gotten colecovision running with bluemsx but its missing controller hooks for now so it’s basically useless and will need recoding in order for it to work. I haven’t tried lr-fba but I’m guessing that’s in the same boat.
herbfargusMember
I got Colecovision working.
Which emulator did you use?
herbfargusMember
Awesome, you also said something about a triple boot with Retropie, Raspbian, and openelec, is that going to be like that miniemu kickstarter a couple months back?

Except smithers isn’t a greedy dirtbag that prostitutes the work of others for his own financial gain and smithers actually knows what he’s doing.
Good work smithers. You’re a stand up chap.
herbfargusMemberSelect+x is the hotkey to open up the rgui: see this video:
herbfargusMemberYou create the file manually with nano or winscp. Or you can add
unstable
aftercontrib
in/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/ports/kodi.sh
instead of creating a new kodi.sh fileherbfargusMemberTwo things: I dont know how well retroarch reads .7z files if at all- to eliminate any doubt extract them with 7zip.
Also the snes emulator had some bugs that were fixed. update your setup script and reinstall lr-snes9x-next from option 5 I believe. see this video if there is any confusion:
herbfargusMemberyoud have to set up a github repo named es-theme-space with your theme and request the developers to add it as a new repo in the retropie organisation/ add it to the setup script.
herbfargusMemberThat’s what you requested. Your video has to be timed exactly if you don’t want emulationstation cutting it off.
09/13/2015 at 05:47 in reply to: 10 inch crt Television help. Fuzzy as hell. Can't read a thing on the screen #105988herbfargusMemberIt does sound like its a hardware issue- I typically try and stick with hdmi if at all possible since even if i do get the 3.5 mm jack to work usually the audio is very subpar (which is pretty common for all raspberry pi’s)
herbfargusMemberin /etc/profile.d/10-emulationstation.sh
remove this line
while pgrep omxplayer &>/dev/null; do sleep 1; done
herbfargusMemberYou could do that too, to a point- but the issue is most people have windows and windows cant read Linux partitions. Win32diskimager writes a bootable image which acts as the operating system as well as the file system so when you clone the sd with win32diskimager it takes care of all partitions.
herbfargusMemberlooks very nice. unfortunately I have no control over the files- i can only modify forum responses.
Quick tip- even if you didn’t want to draw specific svgs for each system, you could use the simple theme svgs and still provide the same fonts and backgrounds for all the other systems just for consistency until you get the others sorted
herbfargusMemberyou have the wrong romset. see this page:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
herbfargusMemberYeah omxplayer is a bit picky when it comes to codecs. I typically stick with h.264 .mp4 files. Glad you got it sorted. I’ll probably create a wiki page on it once the next release comes out.
herbfargusMemberYou’ll want to make sure you update your setup script and depending on the length of your video if you want it to play all the way through you’ll want to re-enable the emulationstation autostart behaviour from the setup script as that adds a small script that tells the video to play all the way through before emulationstation loads up.
herbfargusMemberIt does. I’ve tested it. Either you can manually define the location in splashscreen.list or you can choose it from a folder that you’ve created in ~/RetroPie/splashscreens/ you’ll select the new folder from the second option of the splashscreen menu in the setup script.
herbfargusMemberI’ll look into it as well if I can find the time. I’ve been making a theme with rookervik so I might be able to narrow it down.
herbfargusMemberIt gives an error when I try and switch the theme something to do with fonts, “!err”
herbfargusMemberDid you do sudo raspi-config? That error is specific to winscp.
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberIf you’re using retropie 3 there is only one n64 ROM folder and you switch the emulatotor from the run command menu as your ROM loads.
herbfargusMemberAre you using the 3.0 image? There were issues with the lynx emulator that were fixed. Update your setup script and reinstall lr-handy from binaries.
herbfargusMemberThis explains how to install new emulators. If you don’t have a rpi2 then its doubtful you’ll get favourable results.
herbfargusMemberOne thing I would be interested to see with your build is how it handles multiple systems. Emulationstation has limitations when it comes to too many ROMs/emulators. Does your build provide more system options without the limitations of emulationstation?
