Yeah I locked the columns so people would stop messing them up, but I can add you as an editor if you like- just submit a request to edit from the sheet or just pm me your gmail and I’ll give you permissions to edit everything.
If you break things I can always revert your changes so don’t worry about that.
herbfargusMemberThat’s the one that should be edited- no need for 3 bloody sheets when it can easily be done with data validation and sorting. But I digress..
herbfargusMemberYeah I didn’t do that- somebody else seemed to not like the format I set and created their own sheets (looks like rubbish) but anyways feel free to add it to the compatibility sheet somewhere- I added the gliden64 plugin- in the data validation under the mupen64plus sheet. You can add it there by selecting it from the drop down option under best plugin.

As it stands the only two ways I can think of accomplishing your task is to basically simulate key presses that take you into the supernintendo menu in emulationstation as it boots, or script it to boot into the rgui with the snes core loaded- but both are pretty singular use cases that would have to be custom scripted for your needs. There may be other ways as well, I’m not the most skilled at coding.
perhaps in the future if aloshi ever picks up development again, it may be integrated as an option in emulationstation but yeah retropie wouldn’t be messing with that code.
herbfargusMemberShould be fixed now
herbfargusMemberThanks, I’ll fix it when I find the time

Can be does easily enough. See linked video.
herbfargusMemberYou should watch floobs video linked on the wiki page- it details how to manually configure your controls for the n64.
herbfargusMemberIt’s hard to check a version as retropie is modular and pieced together from so many systems. I honestly just always start with a fresh image, but I don’t play my pi often enough to merit enough customisations that I’d worry about losing anything in an update.
But as long as you’ve updated your setup script before a full binary install and it doesn’t throw any errors you can probably safely assume you’re on the latest version.
herbfargusMember2.6 is more difficult as the file paths have changed a bunch. Best thing to do is just start with a fresh image and just reconfigure controls as they are much easier to configure than they were for 2.6.
herbfargusMemberMake a backup just in case, transfer all the files you want to keep from samba shares to your pc, then do a full binary install, copy your files back over and you should be good to go.
herbfargusMemberAh yes. That is a much simpler option. What buzz said.
herbfargusMember/etc/emulationstation/themes/carbon/art delete select.wav. or I’d you just want to disable it remove the reference in the xml file. Might not be the exact file path as its of the top of my head but around there somewhere.
herbfargusMemberJust open the start menu and choose configure input, hold down a key on your keyboard like you would a gamepad and just configure it the same way.
herbfargusMemberhttps://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Nintendo-64
There’s only one retroarch emulator for the n64. The rest have their own configs as detailed in the wiki listed above.
herbfargusMemberYou need to use ecm-tools to extract it as a bin cue set or at the very least a .bin file. You can find guides easily enough on Google for it.
herbfargusMemberThat’s the first build. The script I posted may be fine for both as its the main repo we currently pull from except its the newer version.
herbfargusMemberdont see why not
herbfargusMemberI tested gizmo’s script and it worked. just for reference this is the code that was added with it under the core events section in
mupen64plus.cfg
# Joystick event string for stopping the emulator Joy Mapping Stop = "J0B7/B6" # Joystick event string for switching between fullscreen/windowed modes Joy Mapping Fullscreen = "" # Joystick event string for saving the emulator state Joy Mapping Save State = "J0B5/B6" # Joystick event string for loading the emulator state Joy Mapping Load State = "J0B4/B6"
herbfargusMemberThis shows how to switch emulators:
herbfargusMemberyou should see this video on how to use the setup script:
jaguar doesnt run all that well though.
herbfargusMemberAs you are most proficient with the n64 stuff, once you get the config stuff sorted would you mind updating the wiki with an example config code block? I think it would be really helpful for users. Thanks :)
herbfargusMemberTakes at least an hour or so.
herbfargusMemberYou’ve looked at this page as well?
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Sound-Issues
I’ve always had issues with the composite cable, and only ever gotten sound to work favourably with HDMI.
herbfargusMemberPsp was just added yesterday ;)
herbfargusMemberPerhaps you should read the documentation more clearly:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Nintendo-64#roms
herbfargusMemberAh, so it is, my bad. The only other thing I can think of that has happened with some other emulators is that the default saves go in the system folder which is not writable by user pi. One way to solve that is to
sudo chown -R pi:pi /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-nestopia
Otherwise perhaps it’s time to learn to be content with savestates.
herbfargusMemberHave you tried different emulators?
herbfargusMemberYou could always try the nes version of mule or c64, or msx2, or zxspectrum… Sometimes emulation may be incomplete with some games. I haven’t tried m.u.l.e. so I wouldn’t know if its compatible or not.
herbfargusMemberTry to follow the steps exactly in the wiki:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Atari-800-and-5200
I wrote them as i did it so it should work provided that you have the correct bios files
herbfargusMemberHow long are you waiting for it to install? Also it’s possible it could be network issues
herbfargusMemberhttps://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Atari-800-and-5200#controls
It’s not a retroarch emulator so you need a keyboard (especially as the 8 bit Atari was a computer with a keyboard)
herbfargusMemberUnlikely. Retroarch has a virtual keyboard on some systems, and for configurations, you can do those through ssh:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/ssh
But keyboards are cheap enough that it’s more cost effective to just buy a keyboard than it is to code in a virtual one (not to mention if you’re gaming, a game meant for keyboard use would be incredibly impractical to be played on a virtual keyboard I would think)
herbfargusMemberAnd it’s not game specific? You’ve tried it with other games as well?
