herbfargusMember
It was working, I’ll look into it and ammend the wiki once I come up with a solution.
herbfargusMemberThis accomplishes what is shown in the video and it installs kodi 15 which doesn’t have a black screen bug
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/KODI#kodi-15
herbfargusMemberIt’s there:
https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-simple/tree/master/retropie
And there is a pull request to fix it but it hasn’t been merged yet
https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-simple/pull/7
It can be updated from the theme installer:
herbfargusMemberIt’s not a retroarch emulator so there is no rgui.
Read the documentation
herbfargusMemberEmulationstation can be used on windows too where those systems that don’t work on the pi may be more viable, so they will still be useful for those that use windows.
And windale I can probably make a nometa version like we did for the carbon theme with only large boxart- I personally prefer the large boxart/screenshots as well.
Tronkyfran, Once the artwork is complete for all the systems, I’ll probably bug you on IRC for some real time collaboration on colours, fonts, layouts, etc as I don’t want this to just be the simple theme with your art- rather I’d prefer it to be your theme that was loosely based on the simple theme.
herbfargusMemberI also made a quick video on my preferred method. many ways to do it.
herbfargusMemberI’ve set up a theme repo for all the artwork- Once it’s complete I will add it to the theme installer (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/themes) in the source code:
https://github.com/HerbFargus/es-theme-tronkyfran
in the meantime until it’s complete you can manually add it in this file:
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/esthemes.sh
after this line
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/supplementary/esthemes.sh#L52
you’ll add
'HerbFargus tronkyfran'
As far as rights to use- I’m just the code maintainer, Tronkyfran is the artistic genius here so that’s up to him ;)
herbfargusMemberMight be a similar bug:
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/2386
Upstream source installs run the risk of instability, binaries are built to be more stable.
herbfargusMemberYou can install it from the setup script if the link is broken.
herbfargusMemberThis guy nanochess has been actively developing a colecovision emulator- I’m hoping we can integrate it into retropie someday if he releases the source.
herbfargusMemberPerhaps make your video a tad longer?
herbfargusMemberUpdate your setup script and reinstall mupen64plus binaries.
See this page for updating:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie
And this page for info about the runcommand menu:
herbfargusMemberJust for reference:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie
herbfargusMemberUse gles2n64: you won’t get satisfactory results with libretro
herbfargusMembersudo nano /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand
Ctrl+x
Y
Enter.
herbfargusMemberI’ll update the wiki so its a little more clear for people in the future.
herbfargusMemberPerhaps you are misunderstanding what bios files are. Bios files are sometimes needed for certain consoles to run- as a firmware if you will. They fall in the same legal territory as roms so you’re on your own in finding them.
Then after you’ve acquired them from some googling you can transfer them over to your bios folder as described in the above links.
herbfargusMemberI only changed the image to match the core mapping of the emulator not the other way around. The core button mappings are hard coded on retroarch’s end, we don’t have anything to do with how the core emulator buttons are mapped, that’s retroarch’s deal.
herbfargusMemberDid you follow these steps?
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/scraper#steven-selphs-scraper
herbfargusMemberWhich part of this did you get lost at?
Do you have the bios files ready to transfer over to your raspberry pi?
Also did you see this page for the Atari 800?
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Atari-800-and-5200
Which systems are you trying to play?
herbfargusMemberYes. The setup script and runcommand use joy2key. Definitely worth integrating into keyboard based games. Still not ideal but at least allows people the opportunity to exit if they accidentally open the game.
herbfargusMemberIt’s possible, I could be wrong. Just from personal experience the vast majority of Linux games need some form of x to run.
herbfargusMemberGlad you got it sorted. good to see at least one person reads the wiki ;)
herbfargusMemberI think it needs x to run
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberThe wiki is a useful resource.
This page will tell you everything you need to know as far as it pertains to copying files over, the pages on the sidebar give specifics on each system
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation
herbfargusMemberNope. Not supported
herbfargusMemberherbfargusMemberThis Page has all the mame Dats thus far: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs#lr-mame2003
It’s also linked to my github repo where I keep copies of all the dat files so far:
herbfargusMemberI know @dankcushions said that he was working on parents only sets/ working sets, and I think he’s set up a few but I’m not sure how extensive they are, I’ve been pretty swamped with uni, so a lot of my mame testing has gone to the backburner.
see this post:
HOWTO: Use datfiles to eliminate clones, etc, from Mame/FBA/Neogeo
herbfargusMember.obj should suffice. As far as thickness goes I don’t think that can be done programmatically, I think that has to be done manually, (and emulationstation is picky about how svgs are drawn in order to render properly) so I think we may just have to come up with a template that works for one and then just duplicate it for the rest of them. I’ll try with the ones you gave me first and then if its not visible enough, we can find a way to sort it out.
In the mean time the wallpapers look good (I’ve been adding them to the repo as you’ve posted them.)
herbfargusMemberThey look good- may need to play around with the thickness of visibily’s sake.
Are you doing all these 3d models in blender? Perhaps once you finish maybe we could also add those files to the repo just for reference if we need to make adjustments in the future.
herbfargusMemberRgui configs definitely have room for improvement when it comes to making custom configurations. Believe me it’s on the list.
herbfargusMemberI also had similar issues with the virtual gamepad configs as an app so I’ll have to test to see if this sorted it as well.
herbfargusMemberSee this page for information on controller configs for the non libretro mupen64-plus
