FloobMember
This may help you with the N64 issue
FloobMember
Here you go
They look great, thanks very much.FloobMemberThis should help:
FloobMemberYou can do this by editing your /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg to add a new Favourites entry.
Basically copy the mame related one you want – I dont think it would allow multiple systems under one entry though – so it would need to be per system favourites.FloobMemberYes, there is ADVMAME and FBA.
FloobMember
Great work!!. If anyone interested I’ve made numerous GB, GBC and GBA system overlays from pictures found on the web, I’ll upload them later
Would be good to see those, the handhelds do look good with these overlays.
Even if it does seem to open a can of worms about exactly what resolution these should be played in :)I used these that Roo pointed to:
http://retroarchborders.blogspot.com/FloobMemberAre you using 2.6.0 image of RetroPie?
Make sure your roms are in
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadrive/
(as opposed to the dgen version which needs its own controls.)If that doesnt work, when you start a game is there yellow text at the bottom of the screen indicating a controller has automatically been detected?
FloobMemberI’m assuming thats composite out for a CRT?
See settings here to update your boot/config.txt to output PAL/SDTV via composite
http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#Video_mode_optionsFloobMemberCan you confirm the exact directory you have put your SNES roms in?
It *must* be this for RetroArch to use them
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/snes/If they are in there (and not also in other folders), it should be using the retroarch config files in the same way that, for example, the Megadrive does.
Are you using 2.6.0?
FloobMemberYes, it does seem a little sluggish. Can you turn the FPS monitor on via RGUI? Does it differ from 30fps on the gb-shader ?
FloobMemberWhen I upgrade I tend to just use the latest image, and copy the roms back.
You may want to grab your controller config which (if you are using the auto files) is in /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/configs/Or it may be hardcoded in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
But to be honest it doesnt take a min to reset them using the retropie-setup script

https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/The-gpSP-EmulatorFloobMemberWhen you start a game, before it loads press “x” and you can choose the game resolution.
FloobMemberWhich controller do you have? Do you have a basic USB joypad to test out with first – its often easier to check for issues that way.
FloobMemberThis should help with the setup for you:
FloobMemberThanks so much for the conversions! I’ve put an updated video up here (on a B+):
I played about with the setup a bit as I’ve only pulled down the shaders I was after, I’m not too sure this would be straightforward for some users though.
I think the easiest way would be to follow Roos instructions above (and use his edited files), although I think you will also need to get the 4 shader files (not 0) here https://github.com/gizmo98/RetroPie-Setup/tree/7fa6d471361ff882bcfb2bdc11e20e4b438ef064/supplementary/RetroArchShader/handheld/gameboy/shader-files
As well as putting the 2 png files here in your working (shader) directory:
https://github.com/gizmo98/RetroPie-Setup/tree/7fa6d471361ff882bcfb2bdc11e20e4b438ef064/supplementary/RetroArchShader/handheld/gameboy/resourcesDid you test yours on a Pi2 Roo?
It seems the framerate drops from 60 to 30 when the gb-shader is used (on a B+ at High overclock).FloobMemberThis should help explain the hotkey behaviour:
FloobMemberThat looks really impressive. Good job!
The time spent was well worth the effort.FloobMember
Hi floob, haven’t seen you for a while nice video!
Thanks, I’ve just extended it.
Also, looks like conversion steps are here:FloobMemberThanks to Roos suggested config, I’ve had a go, and think these overlays look pretty good.
http://dai.ly/x2is5ktHere is my config:
video_shader_enable = true video_shader = /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/shader/bead.glsl input_overlay_enable = true input_overlay = /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/overlays/gb.cfg input_overlay_opacity = 0.70 # 1.0 input_overlay_scale = 1.0 aspect_ratio_index = "22" custom_viewport_width = "432" custom_viewport_height = "389" custom_viewport_x = "423" custom_viewport_y = "165"
FloobMember
Floob please help me!
I tried 3 different mame emulators:
1) the first mame, the default mame4all, cant save e cant use dpad
2) advmame is too slow and no way to use it
3) mame libretro, ask me to select a core and other things in a greenish menu. Is that a part of retroarch? Are there instructiins on how to use it?Thank you so very much. This world is so very difficukt for me!
This should get mame4all working, and what controller are you using that is having problems?
A popular alternative is to use the FBA emulator to run games as it uses more current romset versions.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pifba/files/FloobMember
Is the anyway to scrap just for PAL Megadrive boxart?
There are 526 PAL boxart covers available from Emumovies if that helps:
http://emumovies.com/forums/index.php/page/portalYou could then use these local images for the scrape.
FloobMembermame4all would save them here:
/opt/retropie/configs/mame/stabut I think its too old (based on 0.37b5) to support it.
You would usually use Shift + F7 to save in it.
FloobMemberI tend to use the snes or phosphor based shaders, they seem to look good and dont affect the performance too much. I guess its a case of personal taste.
I set mine in the /opt/retropie/configs/{systemname}/retroarch.cfg files.FloobMember
The crazy thing is Floob, the setup program is finding the controller configuration script, its prompting me for each button. Then when it returns to the “GUI” it says the files was saved as “.cfg” which of course doesn’t exist in the directory its supposed to.
Any chance you can video or screengrab the error (you should notice it flicks up on a black background to briefly show the error if it cant write the file properly)
Are you using 2.6.0 and have updated the retropie-setup script?
FloobMemberAh – I presume its caused by the source update making a path invalid.
You could either use an image, or just amend the paths shown in your retroarch.cfg file.FloobMemberThe thread you link to is from 2013, and fixed now – also the above issue is path related?
The video above should work fine, but if you have any issues, let me know what error you get (ideally using 2.6.0) and it should be easy to fix.
2 Shader videos are in my sig below.
FloobMemberThis is often due to either a path issue where the process cant find the joyconfig program (due to an old image and new setup script) or you have something open like Emulation Station that has a lock on the joypad.
I’d suggest writing a new copy of 2.6.0 (making sure ES isnt running, if it is quit out of it), update the retropie-setup script and then re-run this.FloobMemberYou could run
apy-get update
apt-get upgrade and it should work on a RPi2, but there are improvements to the general build in 2.6.0 so I would be very tempted to use that instead. If you have a B+ you need to use the 2.6.0 v1 image. (As opposed to v2). Or if you use your Rpi2 use the v2 image. This image is built with the RPi2 in mind.
Updating the retropie-update script gets you the latest version, you could then update certain emulators from within that script – but unless you have a need for the bleeding edge latest version I wouldnt bother.
FloobMemberUpdate your retropie-setup script and register the retroarch controller.
It should then update all the auto config scripts.FloobMemberMake sure its this image you use (v1 as opposed to v2)
https://www.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/download-info/retropie-sd-card-image-for-rpi-version-1/Thats 2.6.0 for the B+.
Do you have a USB controller you can plug in to test Emulation Station detects it?
FloobMemberSome MAME romset version info here:
FloobMemberThis may help you:
FloobMemberThe way I would do it is:
– Write an image of RetroPie 2.6.0
– Use the default pocketsnes emulator here:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/snes
– Configure your controller (once)This keeps it clean by using the auto detection (as opposed to altering the main retroarch.cfg file). Works for me anyway
FloobMemberHold down “select” on the joypad, then try F1, or n, m etc…
Its because you have set an enable hotkey function.
input_enable_hotkey_btn = “0”Details are here:
