I have the SLG3000 but still havent got round to trying it out – I’ll update this post when I try it out.
FloobMemberHave you used clrmamepro to verify that your romsets match the MAME emulator you are using? It will be different to the version you run on the PC, so unfortunately it isnt a valid to test if they work on the PC.
There is a guide to verify the romsets here:
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMsYou can find the dat files here:
We can probably help more if you confirm which arcade emulator you are using on the Pi – this can usually be worked out by the folder you have chosen to put the romsets into.
FloobMemberThis should help with kickstart rom locations
FloobMember
So….from what I understand from that article is I can use CLRMAMEPRO to select the PARENT and the CLONE .zip files and recreate them as NON-SPLIT SETS (all clonesets will now include parentset files)? Once that is done, I should be able to delete the versions I don’t want?
Example: PUCKMAN is the parentset and PACMAN is the clone. If I use CLRMAMEPRO and run both as NON-SPLIT sets, it will provide PACMAN with the parentset files and be able to run on its own so that I can then delete PUCKMAN as it’s no longer needed. Is that right?
Yes, that should work. Bear in mind the romsets filesize will grow – but if you are going to delete the vast majority of clones it shouldnt be much of an issue.
Then if you want to tidy up further, this can help strip out unwanted games
http://www.waste.org/~winkles/ROMLister/Ask user “Roo” for more details, he’s a bit of a MAME whizz.
FloobMemberThis shows you if a romset is a clone, or a parent.
http://www.progettoemma.net/search.phpParents dont need clone sets to run, but a clone set needs a parent to run.
You could remove all clones, but then you would get rid of games like pacman that is a clone of puckman. This explains the difference between split and merged romsets.
http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/docs/htm/merger.htmFloobMemberCan you confirm if you are using RetroPie 2.6.0 or 3?
FloobMemberSome theme info here:
http://dai.ly/x2hum27FloobMember
Tried everything from the thread. Nothing helps. Uses Floobs retroarch.cfg, USBGamepad.cfg.
I used than my old controller and it’s working fine with it. MegaWorldUSBGameControllers.cfg is used fine in every emulator and every button is working as intended.
Help?
Can you confirm you have deleted all files from the retroarch config path?
(Keep this one MegaWorldUSBGameControllers.cfg)04/27/2015 at 20:11 in reply to: Retropie 3 beta 2 issue – unable to 'Configure Retroarch Controller' #96309FloobMemberJust a thought – but could you try deleting all files in
/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/configs/then try running the controller setup script again – just so you have just the one config file in that dir?
FloobMemberThis arcade game version is not emulated in MAME yet:
The King of Fighters XI
http://www.progettoemma.net/gioco.php?game=kofxiStreet Fighter III – 3rd Strike is emulated with FBA
https://github.com/libretro/fba-libretro/blob/master/svn-current/trunk/gamelist.txtUse FBA-libretro to run it:
FloobMemberI would go for the 3 beta.
Changelog here:
http://smartretro.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=73FloobMemberDont forget to check this thread:
FloobMemberJust to confirm what happens here:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/29145093I’m sure there is a better way of just re-running the startup script, but that should work.
For reference, it is here:
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/bashwelcometweak.shFloobMemberType “bash”
FloobMemberThis file looks extremely wrong:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfgIt should look a lot more like this:
http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=hLjF0bmBI’m not sure what part of the guides would have changed that for you?
Can you start again with a RetroPie 3 image?FloobMemberThe auto configs work by matching the “iProduct” value to the autoconfig file (I think!)
You can see it by typing “sudo lsusb -v”
Mine is
iProduct 2 USB,2-axis 8-button gamepadThis maps to:
input_device = “USB,2-axis 8-button gamepad ”in my file:
/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/configs/USB_2-axis_8-button_gamepad.cfgAs you say, you would want to avoid editing retroarch.cfg for controller info if you can help it.
FloobMemberYes, try here:
sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
3 – Setup
301 – Audio

When using rice video with mupen64plus it only shows on the bottom left side of the screen. I have tried changing the resolution and framebuffer setting and always shows the same.Has anyone solved this issue?
Best Regards
Have you changed the resolution as in this video?
Although I’m afraid I havent tried Rice out (is it fine for you using the other video plugin)?.FloobMemberHi,
Thanks for the suggestion. Its one way that could work, although at the moment we are just seeing how the new Start Here and Controller forums work out. We could always make more changes soon.
Thanks.
FloobMember
Hey there guys, I’m running on a RPi2, installed Retropie v3.0 Beta 2.
I have copied over some PSX bin/cues successfully but after having gone through the game list and manually entering CD data (CD 2/2… CD 4/4… etc) and rebooting, EmulationStation has not saved any of my entries.
Can someone help me with this problem?
Thanks much, love the RetroPie project.
I’m assuming you do this when ES is quit and is definitely not running?
You can confirm with “ps -u pi”FloobMemberPut them directly into this directory:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all/and delete the
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all/roms/ directory.FloobMemberWhich version of RetroPie are you running?
What is the folder path where you are putting the roms?
FloobMemberFloobMemberHave you adjusted the setting in the retropie setup script?
FloobMemberThe other emulators appear as soon as you add a rom to the directory. That is shown towards then end of the video above.
FloobMemberI’m really not too sure to be honest, if its Emulation Station specific you may want to ask here as well:
http://emulationstation.org/forum/index.phpFloobMemberI would really suggest not to follow those steps to get your controller configured – that would effectively hard code certain buttons in your main config – meaning the auto configuration which is set on by default would get overwritten.
I would suggest using the RetroPie3 beta 2 image available here. Write that to your card and boot. Then quit out of Emulation Station and run the retropie setup script.
This will let you run the controller config – very similar to this:FloobMemberI’d suggest it may well be easier (at least the first time) using the image provided on this site.
Here is an example (obviously instead of 2.3 just use the 3.0 beta available now)
FloobMemberI honestly dont think a Pi (Even a model 2) could emulate Xbox or PS2 to a usable state.
FloobMember
I would like to see the ability to pick rom based on filename not the scraped metadata. My collections meta data is wacked out.
Please open a new thread – as this doesnt seem related.
FloobMemberNope, just personal taste. I havent really thoroughly tested them both, but I havent had any issues with Nestopia.
FloobMemberThe menu where you choose the emulator only needs to be run once, so you can set a default emulator and then it will remember the choice.
Also, it has an option to select an emulator on a per rom basis, so you can have a different emulator per game as well.Yes, you’d have to select this with a keyboard, but you’d only have to set it once.
FloobMemberIs it worth spinning up a 2.6.0 version to see if it plays better with that?
That way you could rule out the hardware being the issue?FloobMemberPlease put your custom lines above
#include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"
Can you confirm if that works?
Its odd, but it seems to process anything above the include after the main retroarch.cfg.
Although, if you dont have a value set in your /all/retroarch.cfg then setting it below the include in the system/retroarch.cfg works fine. -
