Guys I can’t locate this RGUI
You can set the option in RGUI:
Seetings – Video Settings – Use Bilinear filteringplease help
In your first post you say you are running lr-fba, but then further down you refer to a config file from pifba.
Check this post for the config file locations depending on the emulator you are using (you set the emulator when pressing x when the game starts):FloobMemberboydster has a good suggestion in doing it on a per controller level (I only have two controllers, so only need to do it twice).
If you want to set a full override, I’d check this video first to understand how they work.
FloobMemberAs it uses libretro (lr) you could apply shaders, or overlays etc..
Here is a basic overview on shaders
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owsdsyIDU6AFloobMemberThe latest version is 5 days old (18th May 2015).
Although I wouldnt have thought previous versions would have caused Emulation Station lockups.Perhaps try scraping one system at a time and see the lockups happen again.
Do make sure Emulation Station has quit before scraping.FloobMemberYou could use this flag if that helps
-use_filename=false: If true, use the filename minus the extension as the game title in xml.

I’m a noob here so can you explain how we enter the RGUI (retroarch menu ?).I think the keyboard shortcut is not activate in the last retropie version. Do we have to uncommment something somewhere or add a line in a cfg file?
Press F1.
If you have a button set to enable hotkeys (like Select), hold that then press F1. (or x on the joypad).FloobMemberThats a good point, it may well be related to the 50Hz/60Hz, or certainly something in the video signal anyway.
My TV used here is a Sony KDL-26EX553:
http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/4411984131.pdfI can only presume it auto switches to the appropriate mode, but I’m not sure how to tell if its showing me the display in 50Hz or 60Hz.
You could probably set an override using these settings
http://elinux.org/RPiconfigFloobMemberOk, maybe you’ll need to stick to other emulators like advance of fba then.
Perhaps it would be worth trying it against a 2.6 setup, to rule out any changes in the build that are affecting your setup.
That said, if you are happy running advancemame, no real point in trying to get others working. For reference (I know you have it running though, so more for others benefit) here is a mame4all setup running:
Here is Bad Dudes on mame4all on mine (RetroPie 3 beta 2), not sure if the ratio is correct, but it would be quite playable if I wasnt so bad.
https://youtu.be/NUwKxHD4D-0FloobMemberI’m not sure what to suggest with mame4all, I run it without any sound issues.
As I have the same Pi and RetroPie image as you (unless you have changed settings) I can only think its related to the HDMI cable or TV?
(I’m assuming you are using verified 0.37b5 romsets)FloobMemberIs that the libretro core as well as the standalone mame4all?
FloobMemberMame4all uses the 0.375b romsets (which is about 15 years old), and as it doesnt have to emulate newer games it often runs very well speed wise.
So its a great one to run on the non Pi2 models. Those romsets are also pretty easy to find compared to some of the others, so it seems to encourage people to stick with it.
Not sure about your audio issue. Are you using a clean install image of RetroPie 3? Have you tried different HDMI and/or TV displays?
FloobMemberIf you are using 3.0 beta 2, and want to use mame4all (which uses mame 0.37b5), the roms should go in here:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4allYou could strip the clones out if you like, I have attached a dat file for clrmamepro that just has the parent romsets (about 700) for that version.
It really is worth the 30-60mins to run through the guide to understand how to verify romsets if you want to get arcade games working well.
A guide is here:
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMsFloobMemberFor mame-libretro on 2.6 you can override the default controller by putting settings here:
/opt/retropie/configs/mame/retroarch.cfgMore details here:
Check a video to see how to manage controllers

Input Mapping for Dip Switches / Service Mode on lr-imame4all
FloobMemberWhich version of RetroPie are you running?
FloobMemberRight – well after 20mins of looking I cant find anything in libretro that will auto flip screen when a player dies. Just a manual method using the RGUI.
Which would mean using the hotkeys to bring up the menu, rotate it, then close menu, about 4 button presses I guess.Maybe the guys on the libretro forums have more info.
FloobMemberThis may help for screen flipping in MAME:
Here is a retroarch setting
# Allows libretro cores to set rotation modes. # Setting this to false will honor, but ignore this request. # This is useful for vertically oriented content where one manually rotates the monitor. # video_allow_rotate = true
I’ll give it a quick whirl now.
FloobMemberAre you sure its a parent rom?
Check this:
http://www.progettoemma.net/index.php?lista=&romset=&ricerca=bubble+bobble&textype=begin&lett=I’m saying if its a clone, it will need to read additional zip files.
Whats an example of a game that works in your setup?
FloobMemberYou may need to ask that here:
http://emulationstation.org/forum/index.phpFloobMemberSorry, I dont have one.
What issue was there with the latest 3.x image? I could try to help you getting the controller working ok.
FloobMemberI dont know which emulator you are running, but with roms like Bobble Bobble (which is a clone) it needs the parent rom (which is bubble bobble).
Then the emulator you use probably looks at its config to check where the roms are, and it is directed to the main folder, and of course the parent rom is no longer there. You could get around this by using clrmamepro to roll the required roms into each clone (or just use parents and get rid of clones).
Non-Merged Sets means that all games, including clones, have all the data needed to run copied into their zipfiles.
Merged Sets means that there’s only one zipfile for each family, with the clones moved in with the parents.
In practice everyone uses Split Sets, which keeps parents and clones in separate zipfiles without duplicating the redundant parent data.FloobMemberWell, the ones with a libretro core can offer you the standard settings such as shaders and other graphical tweaks.
But it really is horses for courses. I install 4 different ones just to compare and contrast – saying that if you want new roms you kind of have to go with fba-libretro at the moment.
Based on your description I would have thought either of the mame4alls should do the trick for you.General version info here:
FloobMemberThis post should help:
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs05/20/2015 at 22:26 in reply to: How to get scanlines and vastly improve picture quality: the best method #98048FloobMemberA key reason for using the existing retroarch.cfg files is the internal reference to the overarching retroarch.cfg in the /all folder – which in turn pulls in the autoconfig controller files.
I’ll hopefully have time this weekend to do a guide.
If you want to give me a specific shader or scanline setting example to try I’ll base the video on that.FloobMemberI cant remember the filename off the top of my head, but itll be in
/home/pi/.emulationstation/The other log will be in /tmp/
05/20/2015 at 21:02 in reply to: How to get scanlines and vastly improve picture quality: the best method #98033FloobMemberAdd the extra lines into the existing system retroarch.cfg (at the top), dont rename one to be retroarch.cfg.
I’ll try to do a video soon.
FloobMemberYou could try this thread:
I’m afraid I’m not sure if it will be included in the near future.
FloobMemberYou can install this way if that suits better
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/README.md
FloobMemberThe video above shows you where the controller files are held.
/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/configs/
Go there to find the one for your PS3 controller – they are named fairly well. Then change the value for your hotkey enable button.
Just say if anything in the video isn’t clear.
If you want, you can delete the pre-made files and run the retropie setup script to re-register your controller.
FloobMemberYou could take the easy route and just write the RetroPie image to your card, as ES is already on there?
https://www.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/05/18/2015 at 00:06 in reply to: How to get perfect video scaling and list of recommended resolutions #97840FloobMemberLots of good (and heated!) discussion on custom ratios here:
http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1471As they mention, sticking to an arbitrary 4:3 for the sake of it isnt really that relevant, with the goal really being to get close to each systems native output resolution.
For reference the “aspect_ratio_index” settings are:
0: 4:3 1: 16:9 2: 16:10 3: 16:15 4: 1:1 5: 2:1 6: 3:2 7: 3:4 8: 4:1 9: 4:4 10: 5:4 11: 6:5 12: 7:9 13: 8:3 14: 8:7 15: 19:12 16: 19:14 17: 30:17 18: 32:9 19: config (video_aspect_ratio setting) 20: 10:9 (1:1 PAR) 21: Core Provided 22: Custom
As an example, my Game Gear settings are (on a 720p TV):
aspect_ratio_index = "22" custom_viewport_width = "432" custom_viewport_height = "389" custom_viewport_x = "423" custom_viewport_y = "165"
As you can see the viewport width/height are a multiple of the native 160×144 to keep the ratio the same.
Although the more I read the thread below, the more I think I should check out the affect of using Core Provided instead.
The OP there has said:If you want the native core AR then use “core provided” whether they got it wrong or right.
If you want the nostalgia look whether it’s right or wrong, don’t crop overscan and use 4:3 (display) aspect ratio.
If you want accurate ratio, check my thread here.
http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1471FloobMemberAh – thats good if its just the ones marked on there that you have issues with.
FloobMemberHere are the steps I followed:
Get the dinothawr game files on the Pi
Put game files (dinothawr-data.zip unzipped) here:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/dinothawrCopy the dinothawr core across
Create /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-dinothawr
put dinothawr_libretro.so in it (attached below)Create config setup
Create /opt/retropie/configs/dinothawr
create retroarch.cfg for it
Put this in it#include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg" # All settings made here will override the global settings for the current emulator core input_remapping_directory = /opt/retropie/configs/dinothawr/
Create ES Menu item
Create Dinothawr.sh in
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/Put this in it
#!/bin/bash /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-dinothawr/dinothawr_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/dinothawr/retroarch.cfg /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/dinothawr/dinothawr.game" "dinothawr"
You can get the game files here:
http://themaister.net/dinothawr/dinothawr-data.zipThe libretro core is attached.
FloobMemberIf no images will boot I guess its not a RetroPie issue?
And as you have tried different SD cards, maybe its a PSU or issue with the Pi?Here are some cards that should work:
http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cardsFloobMemberDoes it boot with a normal raspbian image?
https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/FloobMemberThe dat file is used to verify your roms.
This is the guide that shows how to confirm your romsets are valid for gngeo:
