I’m part way through setting up this:-
I’m just at the point of getting RetroPie working properly with it. It’s very easy to build and only a couple of minor tricky parts.

So, I have RetroPie 3 up and running with a wireless PS3 pad following Floobs video. It didn’t quite go according to the video, but the end result was the same….basically it paired….eventually.
Anyway, the MegaDrive and Genesis emulators work 100% fine with no issues at all.
MAME on the other hand isn’t quite going to plan. My RetroPie 2.6 build worked great with MAME. Just hit Tab on the keyboard and configure all the Player 1 controls and away you go.
With this 3.0 version tho, the up/down/left and right movement defaults to the left analogue stick. That is easy to fix by again re-configuring the controls via the menu after pressing Tab. But then for reasons unknown, the X and O buttons on the controller CANNOT be used for any of the firebuttons. This issue occurs in both MAME4ALL and AdvMAME.
I’ve briefly tinkered with the libretro MAME but don’t know (yet) how to configure the controls. I know SELECT and TRIANGLE bring up the emulator menu but I couldnt figure out how to set a pad input to Insert Coin or Start.
Anyone having similar issues or knows of a work-around?
darktrooperParticipantWhich ROM?… I have found a ROM or two that cause problems. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but does the 32X need any BIOS files?
darktrooperParticipantI have just noticed that when entering the RetroPie main menu and going to the Sound Settings, the volume is by default set to zero. I can use the slider to increase the volume but somehow it doesn’t save. I know this because if I quit back out of the menu and re-enter, the volume slider is back to zero again.
Could this be my problem and is there a fix?
darktrooperParticipantWhat file format are your ROMS in?
I’m new to RetroPie but I did manage to have a few games running by just copying the .bin files to the PSX rom folder.
The problem is that PSX games are usually split into more than one .bin file and therefore show up as multiple entries on the game list in the PlayStation section.
I did read elsewhere that the emulator can be forced to read the .cue files only but this apparently requires editing of the es.systems.cfg file which because of permission issues, I am so far unable to do.
darktrooperParticipantOh noooo.
I’ve run into a problem with this now.
I’ve gone through all the stages of configuring my PS3 pad via Bluetooth etc. and had all that working correctly. But now having copied over all the desired ROM files and set the controls and shaders etc. as I want them I’ve found that I’m no longer getting any audio when running games (audio via HDMI is set in the setup).
Worse now is that the menu is no longer showing when I press the start button within RetroPie only basic wireframe type box where the previous options used to be.
Something has obviously corrupted. Is there anything I can tinker with to make it work properly again?
darktrooperParticipantJust to update, I’ve just been tinkering about with the Pi and found what appears to be a driver/cfg file in opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/configs called Zeemote_SteelSeries_FREE.cfg
This IS the pad I’m attempting to get working with EmulationStation but have no idea where to begin.
darktrooperParticipantThank you SO much. I’ve got it all working now.
darktrooperParticipantHi.
I’m a total noob to this too and have tried to use BerryBoot with OpenElec and RetroPie before without success.
I tried again today and noticed that the RetroPie version is 2.3 which comes with the newer build of BerryBoot and ideally would like to avoid spending hours updating RP (did it before on a seperate version…long story).
Which is where I stumbled across your post and your modified version.
Well, as I really am new to this I’m struggling to get your file to work. Not quite sure what’s gone wrong but I tried extracting your file to my freshly formatted mem card but nothing happened except a black screen.
Tried renaming your file and replacing the one that comes inside the BerryBoot folder but that just gave the multicolour splash screen when booting my Pi.
Any chance you could point me in the right direction and tell me what I’m doing wrong?
Cheers in advance.
darktrooperParticipantI have a slight issue with my PS3 pad too. I can get it working via Bluetooth but once RetroPie reboots, I have to set the inputs (for controlling the menus etc.) at every launch.
