dankcushionsParticipant
if shinobi is not a neogeo game, it does not require a neogeo bios.
you should start off reading https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
dankcushionsParticipant“After a great many tests, in a large number of combinations, my machine appears to be stable with the following settings:
Raspberry Pi 3 Stable Overclock Values
arm_freq=1350
core_freq=500
over_voltage=4”dankcushionsParticipantit’s all in the link at the end of their post, which you might have missed as this forum doesn’t highlight/underline urls, for some baffling reason…
dankcushionsParticipantdankcushionsParticipantnice! i much prefer this to the previous screenshot randomizer as this one lets you have everything in one folder, rather than a subfolder-per-splash. great work! IMO this should be part of the official release, or at least an option in the script.
btw, i couldn’t get @zigurana’s optimisation to work. very possible i was pasting it in incorrectly – not sure if it was supposed to replace everything apart form the ‘exit 0’ or what!
dankcushionsParticipantweirdly i noticed this issue seems to only happen when i’m NOT connecting my controllers via a USB hub. not a thorough test but yeah.
dankcushionsParticipantI found the issue and a (temporary) solution. See: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/1403
Hopefully a proper fix can be figured out at some point.
dankcushionsParticipanti would think the internals are either going to work or not. this is a reflash with no changes? if it is, i don’t really know, sorry. it works for me out of the box with lr-fba-next.
dankcushionsParticipantdankcushionsParticipantSame here. I reinstalled from source and had this problem. I did previously work before I reinstalled from source, so I thought it should work if I reinstalled from binary, but it sounds like you have and it doesn’t…
i will try and debug the issue soon, unless anyone has any other clues…
dankcushionsParticipanti don’t know.. i;ve not heard of SD card corruption causing the power icon thing to appear. you should have a 2A power supply for a pi2, 2.5A for a pi3 (although I have a 2A with mine), so you might want to make sure your power supply is ok but if not, yeah maybe reflash it…
dankcushionsParticipanthighlight the game in question in emulationstation (the menu thing):
press select > edit this game’s metadata > option to delete it at the bottom:)
dankcushionsParticipant1) i’m not sure i understand. if you choose ‘shutdown’ from the emulationstation menu the system should shutdown completely. there shouldn’t be a terminal or anything to input anything into. after that you can turn off your pi from the mains, but if you’ve got a command prompt visible then that’s different!
2) you can delete games from within emulation station itself. does that work?
dankcushionsParticipantneither PSX or SNES should have any issue with default settings. can you test a fresh 3.6 image? how are you getting sound from your PI? HDMI?
also “crackling sound” – performance dips or just audio static?
dankcushionsParticipantsorry, I’m talking rubbish! my suggestion would flip the screen 180, not 90 (at least in a game I tested). there are options in the RGUI (select + X in game) that might help.
dankcushionsParticipantthere’s only one right version for each file 0.2.97.37 – see https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
dankcushionsParticipantDELETED
dankcushionsParticipantdemon front works fine with lr-fba-next. fullspeed on the pi3 as far as i can tell, maybe a little bit of lag
you also need to make sure you have pgm.zip in your /roms/arcade/ or /roms/fba/ folder (wherever your dmnfront.zip file is)
dankcushionsParticipantwhat resolution are your TVs?
can you post the contents of this file:
/boot/config.txtdankcushionsParticipantthe 3.6 image was released very soon after the pi3 was available and there have been raspian/etc fixes since.
i mean you should probably ask them what those settings do before applying them :) hdmi_drive = 2 is the only one recommended here: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/sound-issues – i wouldn’t mess with anything else.
that said, i’ve never had any hdmi audio issues so hopefully someone who has can weigh in (and update that wiki if necessary)
dankcushionsParticipantsure you could – use scripts. you can load a game via the command line.
see https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/wiki/Using-the-command-line
i don’t know what you mean by loading the ‘mame emulator’, though. you can load a game, or you could load a retroarch core and choose games through the interface, or you could edit your emulation station so it only has a mame menu. need more information.

Emulator tested lr-mupen64plus. Is this the best one to use?
[/quote]
no. use mupen64plus-X where X is whatever plugin is most suited to the game. seems to be gliden64 for the pi3, although I’ve not checked.dankcushionsParticipantcrap hdmi cable? what change did you make to your config.txt?
consider also updating everything
apt-get update
apt-get upgradedankcushionsParticipantthat’s kinda cool you get any running :) you should fill out the sheet above if you plan on testing a lot of roms on the pi1, but i imagine most will be ‘has issues’ for slowdown :)
dankcushionsParticipantyou have to hold your hotkey enable button to select shaders. i’m not sure what it is on keyboard, but it works for me if i press select on my joypad (hotkey_enable), and then n or m on my keyboard, it cycles shaders.
maybe it should be mapped to some joypad buttons instead by default in retropie, as it’s not really usable like this, but i don’t know.
dankcushionsParticipantseems to work without the etc/rc.local line after an apt update/upgrade, so even better! :)
dankcushionsParticipantdoes that happen with all psx games for you, or just this one?
dankcushionsParticipantsuper mario world works fine for me. try another version? sometimes specific versions of roms don’t work on certain emulators for whatever reason.
dankcushionsParticipantYou got it :) this question has come up a few times so I added a FAQ: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/FAQ#why-does-shut-down-and-reboot-take-ages
dankcushionsParticipantoh interesting! if you go into the retroarch UI you can configure which button combo triggers the system menu.
hold select + X to bring up retrarch menu
quick menu > core options > look for the right option theredankcushionsParticipantthanks for this! finally i have stable wifi :)
dankcushionsParticipantHave you updated your retropie setup script? the ‘hold start’ thing was only added to the default 10 days ago: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/1331
i also think that once updated you’ll have to reinstall lr-fba-next via the setup script. let us know how you get on :)
dankcushionsParticipantmetal slug 5 is not supported by mame 0.78 / mame2003
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LP1MELCvcxu7TfiowF_0ZuvRVEMqlfQyTVetnOJvuJc/edit#gid=1744967714check your romset is correct https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs
dankcushionsParticipantsounds like this issue – https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/1226 – sounds like it has been fixed, though?
dankcushionsParticipanti’m not sure what you’re asking? what are you trying to achieve here?
video_shader_dir is where ALL the shaders are found, so when you use the retroarch GUI to choose one you can find them without having to navigate through your file system. you shouldn’t be changing this in retropie as it’s already configured.
video_shader_path is the path to the SPECIFIC shader you want to enable in this emulator (or ALL retroarch emulators if you’re looking at all/retroarch.cfg). you also have to set video_shader_enable = true to get this shader to load on launch.
