I believe we should just wait until this bug will be fixed. By now I recommend installing version 2.6 which works just fine.
The game save files are the .srm, and the save states that RetroArch can use directly are the .state files.

This should help:

Thanks for your answer, but mentioned post does not resolve my issue.

I tried also this:

cd /opt/retropie/emulators/RetroArch/installdir/bin
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 0 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

And /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg was updated but buttons are still not recognised by emulator.

I found out that mapping I need is:

User 1 Y button (left): 3
User 1 X button (top): 0

Can somebody please tell me where can I set this?

Can I use a regular controller (simple Retro Link SNES USB controller) instead of xbox 360 controller? Please could you provide some instructions for other controllers :)

Hi everyone!

I currently use ‘Retrolink USB SNES Classic Controller’ – it works fine without any extra configuration required. I recommend it to everyone who looks for a decent quality controller for a low price.

Edit: works with RP 2.6, not with 3.0beta2 https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/795

I believe this is just a typo ;)
you can have it configured to your keyboard as well.

in the setup script you can go into SETUP and then option 310- change hotkey behaviour and select option 2 Press ALT to enable hotkeys

Then you can press alt+esc to exit your emulator

I’ll stay with gamepad solution, but thanks for this hint ;)

I’ve also added wiki post about this.

Letters are case sensitive.

I know, but when I go there it says that such folder does not exist :(

What you mean ‘go there’, can you describe what exactly you are doing? What command do you run? Did you try file manager I mentioned previously?
OK, So I got the PSX roms to run on RetroPie. Only problem is that it doesnt see a BIOS file, because I didnt download that beforehand.
Anyway, I downloaded a BIOS called SCPH1001.BIN which should be the right BIOS file.
I followed a tutorial ( this one: http://lifehacker.com/get-a-ps1-emulator-up-and-running-on-a-raspberry-pi-2-1689869367) but when I get to the “put BIOS file in BIOS folder” part it seems to be that I dont have a BIOS folder where he should be. Tutorial says its in /Home/pi/Retropie/BIOS/ but when I try to go there or move the BIOS file to that folder it gives me the info that such folder does not exist :S

Did they recently move the BIOS folder in 3.0? I cant seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks for the help in advance!
I use retropie 3.0 on RP 1 B+ and BIOS folder is /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS.

Please keep in mind 2 things:
1. In linux filenames are case sensitive – so ‘RestroPie’ is _not_ the same as ‘Retropie’, and ‘Home’ is not the same as ‘home’ in your path.
2. You can easily access files using ‘FILE MANAGER’ which is in ‘RetroPie’ emulationstation menu.

Hope it helps, have a good day!
Its already there on the wiki. They are known as hotkeys. See the bottom of this post.
It is there indeed – now I can see, but it’s within ‘Configuring Controllers (RetroArch)’ section, which is quite confusing. I was looking for keyboard shortcut, didn’t this that it’s possible using gamepad only :) Many thanks for your help!
See video at the bottom of the page:

https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration

Default save and load hotkeys:

Select+right bumper= save state

Select+left bumper= load state

Thanks for your answer! Unfortunately solution you provided does not work for me in retropie v3.0 (I guess it can work with some previous versions).

However thanks to link you provided I’ve found another solution. While in game you can push ‘select’ + X on gamepad (I use retrolink SNES USB retro pad, X is the top button), and Retroarch menu will appear. It’s possible to save/load games state within this menu.

I’ve added wiki post with the answer – thanks a lot! :)
Hey There,
usually the default escape button is the Esc key, but if that doesnt work you will need to add in two lines to your Retroarch.cfg file:
input_enable_hotkey_btn =
input_exit_emulator =
Any Questions, Please Ask!
AJ
Thanks for your answer! I accidentally found out that if you press ‘select’ and ‘start’ on your pad in the same time, than game exits to retropie menu :) Perhaps ‘esc’ was working in 2.X version, I’m using 3.0.

I believe it’s good idea to add this to wiki/F.A.Q. – how do you think?
