Xbox one controller issues upon returning to menu

Hey everyone, I have been trying hard to find the same specific issue. I can and have mapped the hot keys which successfully brings my xbox one controller to the main menu while im playing a game but my issue is once i do this the ES is basically unresponsive and freezes and the controller no longer works to navigate more games etc. not sure what could be the cause of it, and in all my searches of xbox one issues it doesn’t seem to show up.
