    I added XBMC to my EMulationstation menu but I wonder how much slower it is vs running it directly from shell? Is ES taking much of the CPU/memory in the background?

    Just make a script to kill ES before open XBMC, for me it works perfect.

    @sur0x – would it drop back to ES after quitting still?

    That’s the point. Other option I thought would be to start XBMC after I quit ES and then loop it so when I quit XBMC ES starts anew. I think that adding a script to run in rc.local would be ok but since I’m not that much into linux I don’t know how to loop it.

    p.s.

    But I still wonder how slower it is so I can know if it’s worth the change.

    @proxycell , I’m with a little bit of trouble running xbmc with CEC , so I didn’t fully tested, but you can script something that runs XBMC and upon exit, Starts ES again.
    maybe using && ?

    When my CEC works, if I quit XBMC it halts my PI :/
