What is an .RP file and how do i create/modify it?

I want to put some commandline/bash commands into the RetroPieMenu

ive written an .sh script and put it in the retropiemenu, works nicely

but i wonder about how to do .RP files with the nice menus you made, i googled it but didn´t find any information…

i tried sudo nano showip.rp but it just gives me an empty editor so i guess they are compiled in some way.
