What config to edit??

Probably a very simple question, so please forgive me if it is.

I am trying to set up my controller so that I can exit the emulator with a button press. I’ve read the tutorials on how to do it but I’m confused as to what config to edit.

Is it /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch. cfg

Or

/opt/retropie/emulators/RetroArch/configs/XboxGamepad(userspacedriver).cfg

There’s so many configs I’ve got no idea which one is being used!
