"Times Played" and "Last Played" stats are not persisted after reboot

I’m using retropie with fba, mame4all, snes without any problem.
The only minor glitch I have is this one:
emulationstation statistics like “Times Played” or “Last Played” are correctly updated after playing some game but are set to 0 and never after a reboot.

I gave to all gamelist.xml permission to everyone to read and write.

What should I do?
Is there a debug mode to inspect this problem?

Same issue: rebooting doesn’t write the gamelist.xml you have to select quit in order for it to save changes.

I’ve tried it using quit but I get the same behavior; no stats are saved.
That’s pretty strange.

Any other hints?

The only other thing I could think of is to check the permissions of your gamelist.xml
