Sega Genesis / Mega Drive – 6 Button Controller

I tried doing a search but ended up with a lot of results that seemingly got me nowhere.

I currently have my Genesis setup using 3 buttons. I’ve tried assigning the 6 buttons (x, y, z) without changing anything else but this had no effect.

Anybody know how to get this working (in RetroPie v2.3)???

This might be hella late to this, but use filezilla and navigate to /opt/retropie/configs/all and edit retroarch-core-options.cfg. change

picodrive_input1 = "3 button pad"
to

picodrive_input1 = "6 button pad"
