    Is there a way to do this? I want the release date to only display the year.

    I think I’ve asked this question before, or something very similar. IIRC it’s hardcoded into Emulationstation so can’t be hidden or removed.

    That’s what I figured after looking at everyone’s different themes. Thanks for the response.

    Try editing the GameList.xml file.

    Play around with this line:

    <releasedate></releasedate>

    Maybe put just the date in for the game. And if it works, then figure out a way to edit each one using a script, or some sort of replace trick.

    No luck with the previous suggestion. It just changes it to “01/01/XXXX”. After looking it up a bit, it seems it’s hard-coded into EmulationStation. One would think something so simple would have some sort of workaround, though.

    Maybe you can put a crop of your background over the day/month? It sure will need fine tuning,
    But if the date isnt hardcoded to be on the front layer it should work…
