I didn’t update anything for months, but it was time for me to install Retropie 3.2.1. It went well, transferred the roms, made some motifs regarding the overclock settings, installed wicd-curses to setup my WiFi.
But… I ruined everything after I ran the updates as usual:
    – sudo apt-get update
    – sudo apt-get upgrade -y
    – rbi-update (firmware)

After that, the whole installation went crazy: corrupted GUI, input devices (USB gamepad and keyboard) not detected anymore…
So after a few hours and 3 installations, I’ll keep the software as it is without upgrades.

    Is this a known problem?

you shouldn’t use rpi-update unless there is a specific reason to (test a new release or due to an issue that you know has been fixed). New kernels and firmware are packaged up for Raspbian when they are ready.

update retropie like this – https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie
