Mapping Mouse Button to a joystick button?

Hi,
I’m just starting out with RetroPie and my primary aim is Amiga emulation. Following some guides on here I’ve got this to a point where I can launch amiga roms from EmulationStation but I’m hoping to have only a Competition Pro plugged in to the Pi.
Several games need left mouse clicks to load, is there anyway to have this mapped to 1 of the buttons on the joystick or a combo?
I can’t really get my head around the es_input.cfg file to see what (if anything) I’d need to change.
Any ideas?
