Is it possible using background images to fill up black bars?

Is it possible using background images to fill up black bars?
The overlays are placed over viewport, and they are pretty awesome to use, the problem is the arcade platforms that has lot of screen sizes variations, so if there is a possibility to place an image under the viewport, it will fix the issue.

Yes indeed, but I was really looking forward to a generic background solution, I tried to find an answer everywhere and I couldn’t find it, I suppose retroarch doesn’t support that feature :\
