need help with Finalburn alpha Buttons as joystick axis

im useing finalburn alpha how can i set the joystick axis as buttons in my .cfg file

SELECT_1=8
#Joystick axis
JA_LR=0 ——————– I want to set these as buttons

LEFT_1= button 17
RIGHT_1= button 16
DOWN_1= button 0 <———something like this but how do i make it work?
UP_1= button 17
