Last month, I downloaded what was then the latest version of the SD card image. I got everything configured for my controller, loaded ROMs, etc. All is well…except the NES, SNES, and even GBA emulators have serious sound issues. On many games (NES Bubble Bobble, SNES Donkey Kong Country, etc), I’m getting really static-y sound, running s-l-o-w (even when the Pi is overclocked), etc. I’ve played with sound settings, trying to get improvement, but it’s just not working yet.

So I saw there was an update to RetroPie. Interesting. Maybe that will help? The question is…how can I update everything wihtout losing my configuration settings, ROMs, etc.?

There’s a script in the RetroPie-Setup directory that allows you to update the RetroPie binaries. That might help out.
