    I bought this cheap controller and trying to get it work in the emulator. nothing works apart from the start button. The game i am using is

    Super Mario World & Super Mario Allstars

    i tried the manual for 2.3. I am giving up. Attached a picture of my controller.

    i used this code

    cd /opt/retropie/emulators/RetroArch/installdir/bin
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 1 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

    Does this help?
    It shows how to get a USB controller working with RetroArch in RetroPie.
