So I’m using the Rii mini keyboard to run my pi. I’d like to use it as the controller for retropie, but I can’t seem to map a button press. Movement works just fine. There are two 4 ways on teh Rii that work with no issues in every game I’ve tried. I cannot, however, map any a,b,c,d button and get them to work. Retroarch shows ’em in the setup config, but they just don’t work in game.

What am I missing? Am I trying to do something that Retro just won’t handle?

I’m trying to do the same thing and having the same problem. I am able to get the Emulationstation keys to map just fine, but I want to remap the retroarch ones so I can use something other than “z” and “x” for keys.

the keyboard config is set in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

I can’t find a retroarch.cfg file. I only have /pi/RetroPie/ and /pi/RetroPie-Setup/ for main directories. Closest thing I have is a /pi/RetroPie-Setup/supplementary/RetroArchConfigs/ which has about 20 different configs for controls, but not the retroarch.cfg file. Not sure where it is.

you should start from a newer retroarch. sounds like you have the old 2.3 version.

But also, you are looking in the wrong place. it’s not in the home directory but in /opt/retropie not /home/pi/opt/retropie

There is nothing in /opt at all.

I found the controller config at /home/RetroPie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg. Changed the config there and it’s working. I was unable to use a lot of the keys on the Rii, they come up “unknown key” when you try and map them. Mapping to an actual keyboard key, I.e. “C” key works fine.
