    I recently installed retropie image 2.4.1 beta and I saw the option in the retropie setup script to install xbmc.
    I have installed it and it ran good throught the whole installation without any errors but I can’t seem to run it.
    I tried: sudo xbmc and nothing. Emulationstation created a tab for it under the ports section but it won’t run from there either.
    has anyone got xbmc running on 2.4.1 beta?

    I would greatly appreciate any help.

    I just ran it on 2.4.1 and got this error at the end of the attempted install

    WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!
  libtag1-vanilla libtag1c2a kodi-bin kodi xbmc
E: There are problems and -y was used without --force-yes
Could not install package(s): xbmc. Aborting now.

    The I ran
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade

    and it installed without error.

    Then type kodi to run it.

    Now I’ve just got to work out how to configure this …. :)

    the xbmc module is beta and needs some work to fix up dependency installation it seems. I’ll make a mental note of it. I’m still working though the emulators one by one fixing up stuff (vice for example is much improved for 2.4.2 image)

    Just noticed the OP said the link didnt work in Ports in ES.

    I updated the file in
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/xbmc.sh

    to read “kodi” instead of “xbmc” and its happy.

    Im having trouble with this i get the error Xbmc standalone command not found.
    i tried editing the file to Kodi but still doesnt work.
    to get the Kodi to run from console i have to type xbmc.
    any ideas…i updated prior to install using sudo apt get update.

    What does your xbmc.sh file have in it?
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/xbmc.sh
    or do you also have
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/xbmc.sh

    Regardless the command should either be “kodi” or “xbmc”
    Although I think the paramater –standalone may also be used.

    Hi Floob, in the location ports i have xbmc.sh
    i tried renaming it to Kodi,
    to get it to run
    from console i type kodi, sry not xbmc, it just took a while to start after typing kodi.
    so should i add -standalone to the xbmc.sh ?
    im confused arent they both the same in your previous post ?

    Navigate to
    /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports in a SSH session with PuTTY for example (as opposed to using an FTP client)

    Then edit the file with the command
    sudo nano xbmc.sh

    In there you will see the command its trying to run.

    There is no need to rename the filename itself.

    Floob i have navigated to that location now im ready to edit, but what to and is it just acase of deleteing the txt here and typing a different name ?
    Sry im a complete begginer to Rasp Pi.

    Try changing the xbmc there to kodi. You save by pressing Ctrl-x then press “y” to confirm.

    Its odd though because it sounds like xbmc works fine for you from the command line.

    I’m pretty sure its all good if you use 2.4.2 and update the RetroPie setup script.

    Hi Floob, sorted the kodi start up issue thanks, I renamed it like you explained.
    starts ok now….however it gives me a black screen freeze when powering down or restarting form Kodi

    maybe time to start from another fresh image, this time using 2.4.2 !

    noobaphile when I’m exiting my Kodi with “Exit” I also get the black screen but when I do “Power off System” it throws me back into EmulationStation USUALLY without a problem.

    HI snowscars, Im now able to exit to emulation station and shutdown that way, all I done was reboot the system…I can live with that :) thanks everyone for the input, I now have an endless supply of tv for my little girl.
