When I try and modify my controller .cfg files I get an access denied message and this happened out of the blue. I have never seen the message before today even when modifying .cfg files before.

Accidentally bumped another topic when I meant to post a new one

ahh ok, you can just do this:
    sudo chown -R pi /opt/retropie/

i have done that without any problems, i also have done the same for /etc/emulationstation/ and /home/pi/

Do I have to use Sudo chown everytime I boot?

I had used that before but not today, it might be the difference and honestly don’t know what the sudo chown command actually does.

I’m new I this website/Linux/rpi and I see a lot of ‘random’ command line type stuff posted. Knowing the purpose of the command might give me some context and help me in the future.
