Hey guys. Pretty new to the Raspberry Pi, and was hoping you guys could guide a noob in the right direction, here.

I have the RetroPie B+ model (512mb ram) and followed the instructions to the T, from this tutorial:

I used the 2.3 RetroPie disk image, flashed it to the SD card, followed all steps making sure I didn’t skip or overlook anything.

After that, I moved my NES ROMs over to the NES folder using CyberDuck to connect to the Pi from my mac. I didn’t unzip the ROMs or anything, just dropped them in, as I had with other emulators.

The issue I’m running into is that for whatever reason, regardless of putting the ROMs in their appropriate folder, the NES emulator is not a selectable option on the menu of Emulation Station.

Am I overlooking something? Did the LifeHacker instructions leave out some crucial step that I need to do?

I should note that on previous attempts, I was able to get my SEGA roms in, and it recognized the SEGA Genesis/Megadrive emulator in E.S. The only difference between those roms and the NES roms was that, to my recollection, the SEGA rom file extension was .bin, whereas the NES roms were .zip. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

Again, I’m a noob, so any assistance (or even referral to an existing resource that I may be overlooking) is muchos appreciated.
