I just committed a major update for the RetroPie setup script available at Github. The corresponding blog post was also refined. A main element of the update is the possibility to install per-compiled libraries, which dramatically speeds up the whole installation of RetroArch, various cores, SNESDev, and Emulation Station.
More information can be found in the post about the RetroPie setup script.
Just at a curiosity why must the setup file be run as non-root because my OS is setup to auto logon and automatically use sudo for each command. thanks Conno123009

It is not mandatory to run it as non-root. Be sure to call it with your desired owner and absolute path name as parameters, though. There is more information about that at https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup#general-usage. If you feel that there is some information missing or misleading, I would be glad if you could send your suggestions to me!
